NY Jets trade with Raiders for G Kelechi Osemele.

Raiders have an agreement in principle to trade G Kelechi Osemele to the NY Jets, sources tell @josinaanderson and me. Trade cannot be processed until Weds, but two sides have agreement in place. Another Raiders’ trade.

Not curious about terms anymore. The #Raiders will get a fifth-round pick for Osemele. Along with Osemele, the Jets get the Raiders sixth-round pick through Chicago. Considering they were considering releasing Osemele, a fifth better than nothing.

NY Jets trade with Raiders for G Kelechi Osemele.

Great deal for the Jets, struggled last year.

Injury problems last year cost him to miss a couple games. When he's healthy, watch out. I like this trade, I REALLY like this trade.

Looks like the Jets a serious about protecting Sam!

What was once one of the best offensive lines in the NFL as recently as 2016, the Raiders were among the worst in 2018. Some of that was obviously due to rookies at both left and right tackle, but Osemele’s head-scratching decline also played a part. His 97.6 pass-blocking efficiency was his lowest figure since 2013. Not even 30 years old, Osemele should be in the prime of his career which makes his downturn that much more unexplainable.

The 29-year-old appeared in 11 games for the Raiders in 2018. He missed five games because of knee and toe injuries, and his absence was apparently a bone of contention between him and the team, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Michael Gehlken.

Now sign Mitch Morse or Matt Paradis to be our starting center, and select an offensive tackle in the draft.

The Jets are buying low on Osemele. He was a Pro Bowler in 2016 and 2017 and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2016.

Does this mean we’re not going after Saffold?

I think that they check in on him but with so much competition this was a move the Jets needed to make to ensure they have someone in that position.

Yup. He's also a Super Bowl Champion. His rookie year he started on that Ravens O-Line that defeated the 49ers.

Considering all they had to do to get him was pick up his salary cap hit and drop a round in the draft, its a good pick up.

Whatever they got to do to protect their franchise QB.
