    Michael Bennett acquired from PHiladelphia

With the Eagles dumping salary, this was an easy addition for the Patriots. How well do you think Bennett fits into the team?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Philadelphia Eagles have informed Michael Bennett that they are planning to trade him to the New England Patriots, the defensive end told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Friday.

The trade is still being finalized, with the Eagles getting a fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft from the Patriots and sending a 2020 seventh-round pick along with Bennett, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Philly.com was first to report that a trade was close to completion.

Bennett played in 16 games (10 starts) last season and totaled nine sacks. He has totaled 63 sacks over his 10-year career.

He told NFL Network earlier Friday that he was looking for a pay raise. He is scheduled to earn a base salary of $6.2 million in 2019 with a $1 million roster bonus.

I hope we still spend to keep Flowers. Its been a long time since weve had a slew of gifted pass rushers. Bennet still brings that. Flowers obviously does. Adam Butler is an underrated sub package interior rusher. Hightower when hes playing on the edge is an absolute monster. KVN is a great blitzer too.

DE: Hightower and Flowers or Bennet
DT: Butler/Guy and Flowers or Bennet
LB: KVN, Bentley (looked good before injury)
    S: McCourty, Chung
    Outside CB: Gilmore, Jackson
    Nickel: Harmon or a CB

I think that has the potential to be an elite defensive unit. We have great coverage but the great pass rush is something weve struggled with for a while. Flowers coming back along WITH Bennet would be the difference in that.

Its worth splurging to lock in that great defense in for Bradys final seasons.
