I think he is better off being traded to a 3-4 team and going back to his position he played in college. Armstead when healthy is a better all around player than Thomas. Even if people give the slight edge to Thomas in pass rush Armstead is 10x better at stopping the run. In the last 2 years they both havenít been great at getting to the QB but Armstead has a half sack lead on Thomas.
We have Armstead whether or not we draft Bosa. Armstead is an interior defensive lineman, which is why I was against drafting him in the first place with Armstead and Buckner on the roster. Bosa really won't impact Thomas on passing downs.

If we trade a defensive lineman, it better be Armstead. Armstead for a 5th.

Matthews doesn't do anything for me in terms of not draft a receiver in the 2nd round. I see 4 receivers going in the 1st. Metcalf, M.Brown, and two of Brown/Butler/Harry.

That SHOULD leave us one from that group, and I take him in a heartbeat.

3rd round pick has to be corner to me. Its not giving up on our players, especially when your best corner has 2 years left on his deal with no replacement. Witherspoon has to have competition and not just given the spot. Its not a bad problem to have too many good corners, and right now we only have 1 good corner. Pass rush will help, but you still need good corners.

4th round I'm taking Sutton Smith.

I'm taking the TE out of Michigan with the 5th round pick for Armstead

6th round - taking Michael Jordan if hes still available or another ol if hes not.

With the other 6th I'm taking the linebacker out of Washington.

Kelvin Harmon is another good target and potentially best fit for us. Taller Anquon Boldin.

Yeah, he's not getting a lot of talk because he didn't light up the Combine, but he's a really good prospect. Anquan Boldin is a great comparison.

I think Metcalf and N'Keal Harry are the only 2 WRís that have a shot maybe Brown. I just think the WR are all in one group and that group is a tier 2 typical WR group. I wouldnít be shock if DK was the only one to go. In the first.

Sherman, Witherspoon, Verrett, Moore are the 4 outside CBís that will dress for the team the other 2 CB spots are for the NB position. If we take some one in the 3rd they are guaranteed a spot so it will push someone off the roster. I donít see that happening unless itís Verrett.

I was at the senior bowl practice Sutton Smith was awful as a rusher. I donít think he won any reps that I saw. It rained the public out one day so maybe he won a couple that day. If you read his profile on NFL.com they even say he will be an ILB or WLB and probably not very good at that. Iím not sure smith still gets drafted.

Behind Buck Armstead was hands down our best DL. I donít get the hate. He was hurt his first few years but even then he was dominant when he played. I donít get why people want to give up on Armstead. Thomas is suppose to be a passrush specialist and he had 1 sack last year. I get the out of position arguments but Armstead was out of position also a lot. Where is Thomas good heís not fast enough outside and he isnít big enough inside. He literally is a Twinner. We wasted a pick we should move on and build the roster not force him to play and hurt the team because he was a top 3 pick. Get something now for him while teams still want him. Armstead grade 74.6 vs Thomas grade 64.0

Armstead is solid, but unspectacular. Heís good against the run but very average as a pass rusher. The reality is he has one year remaining on his deal and having already paid Ford, having to pay Buckner soon, and likely adding another DL with our first pick means we arenít paying him, therefore heís not in our long term plans. Even the drafting of Street in the 4th last year seemed like we were drafting Armsteadís eventual replacement. While Thomas has underperformed, he has 3 more years remaining at an affordable rate and has flashed some potential when rushing from the inside. Itís also easy to forget that Thomas is only 23 years old. Also, when Zgonina was fired a lot of reporters were consistent in saying that he wasnít a fan of Thomas and that was likely a big reason they moved on.

I forgot to say that I donít necessarily prefer to hold on to Thomas over Buckner, thatís just what I think would be the choice of the FO based on their moves up to this point. If Solly would net us a decent draft pick and we could extend AA I wouldnít be mad.

Sutton Smith isnt going to be a pass rushing starter in this league. Hes a will, who can rush the passer on downs where he can legit pin his ears back and go. I see him being a special teams freak

As for Armstead see what CodeRed said.

There will absolutely be more than 1 receiver taken in the first

Yeah I'm sorry, but even if Senior Bowl practice drills looked bad, Smith DOMINATED both MAC and big school competition in in-game situations. Guys got a gamer attitude too, and it never hurts to have that little guy with big man mentality.

    I'd have to agree
