Down in Class A Advanced, Miranda put together a big day of his own with three hits, three runs and a homer in the second half of the doubleheader. Alcala and Graterol will work out of the Red Wings' bullpen. Both need to be added to the 40-man roster this off-season or the team risks losing them to the Rule V draft.

Saturday, August 17: Vallimont lights-out, Kirilloff rakes
After carrying a no-hit bid into the eighth inning of his last start, Chris Vallimont was dominant once again Saturday for Class A Advanced Fort Myers. The Twins’ No. 29 prospect threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes as he cruised through seven scoreless innings. Vallimont, who yielded his first hit in the fifth, gave up just three hits in the outing and finished with nine strikeouts. The Twins acquired the 22-year-old via a trade with the Marlins in late July.

Alex Kirilloff showed why teams coveted his bat in the 2016 Draft. The Twins’ No. 2 prospect hit his ninth homer of the year as part of a 3-for-4, three-RBI performance for Double-A Pensacola. Kirilloff hit .348 over two levels last season and is batting .276 through 81 games in 2019, hit first season at the Double-A level. Saturday's prospect stats »

Friday, Aug. 16: Javier has a big day at the plate; Canterino spins scoreless start
Twins No. 7 prospect Wander Javier hit a pair of doubles and matched his career-high mark with four hits in Class A Cedar Rapids’ win against Wisconsin. It was the 20-year-old shortstop’s second four-hit performance this season, though, overall, he’s batted just .178/.285/.328 in 65 games. Javier’s big day at the plate supported a scoreless performance on the mound by 21-year-old right-hander Matt Canterino (No. 13), the Twins’ second-round pick in the 2019 Draft. Canterino, a Rice product, allowed one hit and established a pair of career highs by striking out five in five innings. Friday's prospect stats »

Monday, Aug. 19: Jax posts best start for Rochester
The Twins’ No. 22 prospect has only made a trio of starts since his promotion to Triple-A Rochester, but Monday’s outing was still the best that Griffin Jax has thrown at the Minors’ highest level. The 24-year-old threw 54 of his 85 pitches for strikes as he struck out seven across six innings of one-run ball. Tuesday, Aug. 20: Alcala earns first Triple-A win
Jorge Alcala earned the win on Tuesday in his Triple-A debut for Rochester after he entered in the seventh inning and pitched two innings of scoreless relief with just one walk allowed and two strikeouts. This kept the Red Wings within striking distance long enough to break through in the bottom of the eighth with four runs to grab the 4-1 win. Prior to his promotion, Alcala posted a 5.87 ERA over 102 2/3 innings for Double-A Pensacola, which spanned 16 starts and 10 relief appearances. Minnesota’s No. 23 prospect boasts a 70-grade fastball that sits consistently in the high-90s, which could really play up down the stretch as he continues to be used out of the bullpen. Thursday, Aug. 22: Kirilloff stays hot for Pensacola
Alex Kirilloff, the Twins’ No. 2 prospect (No. 16 in MLB) has been on fire lately for Double-A Pensacola and continued that trend with a 2-for-3 performance. The 21-year-old, a first-round pick from the 2016 Draft, not only has hits in six straight games, but four of those performances are multihit efforts. In fact, Kirilloff has been hot all month and is hitting .325 through 19 games, bringing his season average to .284. Kirilloff didn’t play in 2017 as he was recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he raked in 2018 (.348 over 130 games) and has shown this year that that wasn’t a fluke. Thursday's prospect stats »
