    Rudolph

according to the Trib Kyle Rudolph says he won't take a paycut to stay. If that's the case I can see him getting traded. I thought he would take a little cut to stay. Go ask Cousins for some $$$$$.

I'd prefer we keep this under the other active threads but I'm fine here as well.

At this point I don't see any reason to trade him. We are under the cap with all rookies signed outside of the LS. Sure if someone gets hurt we might be in trouble but we have good depth and would only be an issue if we took hits at one particular position.

Yeah this should be in the roster thread but whatever lol

I think the cap issues and the depth is a big reason why Spielman was hoarding late round picks. Hope to find another Kearse or Weatherly in case some injuries do pop up. We have pretty good depth at most positions if an injury were to occur.

I hope we didn't really offer him a 5 yr extension. He seems like a great dude, does a lot for the community and is a veteran leader, but he's a very meh TE. He's not fast, not a great blocker, has decent hands. Overall I think he's a very average player.

yet if you look at his stats over the last few years, they're like #4 in the league while his current pay has him 9th....I'm not saying he's great or underpaid at 7.6mil...but he's been above average

Seems like a really nice guy, but not a fan of him as a player and would put him in the VERY overrated column. Earlier I hoped he would get traded, but wouldn't mind having two solid receiving TEs this year, so I won't be mad if he sticks around this year. I really just don't want him getting extended. RB and RS are starting to worry me with their salary cap gymnastics. We can't resigng everyone, especially guys who are easily replaceable. Any sort of Rudolph extension would be bad in my eyes and I'm starting to think our salary cap situation is going to screw us over in two to three years.

Doogie said the Vikings would trade Rudy for a 3rd but seriously doubts anyone will offer that.

Thanks Doogie lol. Obviously he would be gone for a third. A 5-6 rounder seems a little more realistic.

I don't know any of the contract details but I can't help but worry that we are seriously ****ed in a couple years.

People have said that before about this and teams like the Eagles, but the cap gurus know what they're doing. Then a cut here, a restructure there, and on we go. Sometimes those cuts are tough (like Everson might be next spring) but my bet is that Rudy doesn't complete more than a year or two of this extension, either.

I think the only way we won't be seriously screwed is if we let Kirk walk and have a QB on his rookie deal for a few years.
