    I agree.

The Skins best bet would be to draft a young guy and start grooming him now under McCoy until they can get out from under Smithís contract.
71 million guaranteed if Alex Smith does not retire.

I wouldn't draft a young guy now.. Id wait at least a year that way you have a small window to have spending money on other players with the QB on the rookie deal rather than getting out of Smiths contract then immediately having to pay the young guy if he performs well.

Danny boy will pay him under the table to retire... or offer him some type of front office/coaching position so he can still get paid but they will lose his cap number.

If he doesn't, Id rather just cut him and deal with the cap hit next year and tank bad and get that early franchise changing pick.

Just look at how many really bad QBís there are around the league. Someone is going to pay a 29 year old Super Bowl winning QB.
he already came close to retiring once so its not out of the question even if its not likely. Alex Smith has had a pretty damn good career playing full seasons, he earned his contract.

Yea he almost retired after his debacle with the Rams. Playing for Fisher will do that to a guy. After leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl win and with the courting heís going to get there is no chance he retires.
