    Yup

Still allows us to add another catcher if we need to somewhere else, but gives us depth in case we can't find a better option.

I like Pena and glad he is back. I'd be totally shocked if we brought in anyone on a major league deal instead of having Pena be the back up. Wouldn't mind kicking tires on Sucre or Rivera though. I'm happy with Pena though.

I need baseball back badly. The bears lost, the Bulls suck, and I donít care for hockey or college sports

I hear ya there. The Blues are horrible right now (even though they won tonight). I dislike college football (because it is run by a corrupt organization that refuses to pay their employees). I also hate the NFL because they stole our Rams.

    Yup

Baseball is probably 90-95% of my sports attention, with Cardinals baseball being the main motivator there.

I don't have a favorite team in any other sport either.

So this slow moving off-season is challenging.

I was hoping the cards would be adding another starter to our rotation, I dont see this rotation being that great...

I think it's pretty good, one of the top 5 in the NL for sure.

We have the depth, but the only upside comes from guys that may not start (like Hudson and Reyes).

While it would be great to flip someone like Gant for a more proven, but less years of controlled starter, I think the depth, talent, and reliability is there.

Plus, Wacha and Wainwright will be gone after next year, leaving us with

Flaherty, Mikolas, Martinez, Hudson, Reyes, Gomber, Gant, Cabrera, Ponce, etc to fill out the rotation internally, and we could have interest in an outside addition.

I can see them trading for some one like Robbie Ray or Joey Lucchesi (who went to SEMO) at some point over the next 12 months.

Wacha, Leone, and Ozuna all agreed to contracts today. So no arbitration which is nice

Yeah, we saved $250K on Wacha
    Saved $1.15M on Ozuna
Leone is still unknown, but he was projected for $1.3M

These 'savings' are compared to what MLBTR had them projected at

Depending where Leone settles, we are at around $158M, maybe $159M

With a potential budget of around $175M

So we could add another player to this team, certainly.

Also locking in a pay rate was reliever Dominic Leone. Heíll earn $1.26MM after an injury-shortened campaign, just a smidge under the $1.3MM predicted amount. We had heard previously that the club agreed with starter Michael Wacha.

So all under what they were slated to earn. Good deals.

Tommy Pham headed to arbitration in Tamba Bay... nobody loves TP as much as he loves himself haha.

I mean, he thinks he's worth what he would be as a free agent, despite arbitration. Feels he's been wronged all this time.

Buddy who works for the Cards said that even when Pham was a pre-arb guy, he'd pay to have his car detailed every day from the guy that they let do that. It was $150 per day.

I would be shocked if his price came down to the Cards comfort zone.

I think we could potentially fit him in, if he was willing to do a 4/$60M deal, but I imagine he can beat that deal on the open market.
