Also, for those who keep saying BPA, Pace has always drafted for need, especially with early picks. BPA really just means BPA at a position of need in this league anyway. You really can't draft clear BPA given the roster sizes and turnover in the NFL. Of course if someone game changing falls all the way to the end of the 3rd, that can change things, but that's a unique circumstance.

I think it's a very safe bet they're going RB with that 3rd (or even moving up for one they love - Sanders?) and if they don't, I agree with toovey that they'll have one by the 4th.

I would say by the 4th for sure. They also currently have a big need at OLB so I wouldn’t rule that out with the 1st pick. But plenty of time left to change that. Can’t rule out S or CB either.

Thank you. People take the BPA method way too literally.

If their past drafts tell us anything then RB is going to be a major priority. A lot of the players they met with multiple times in the past (White, Floyd, Whitehair, Daniels, etc) ended up being their picks. I haven't heard much about visits with OLB or S prospects (not saying they haven't happened), so I'm just going off what we know so far.

Maybe it is the 4th, but I think they have someone in mind (my guess is Sanders) who won't last until the then.

I wouldn’t say that. BPA is still a valid methodology despite there being varying degrees. Especially in different spots in the draft and how competitive and good your team is.

Pace is a BPA type of drafter. Does he take need into consideration? Of course. However, guys like Emery, was all about need drafting. He had very little clue about BPA.

All that said, there’s a lot that goes into it. And as long as Pace is here, I feel really good about it being handled right. Now, there might be a draft or 2 during his tenure that doesn’t look great, because that’s really inevitable, right? But no reason to believe the Bears won’t have consistent top 10 level drafts as long as he’s the GM.
