I just don't understand the need to give an 80 year old woman a juvenile nickname. I get that the president does it but that's not a good reason really. That's actually quite sad that a 72 year old man gives people nicknames that aren't "sport" or "champ" and those people would be his grand children.

Lighten up a little. It will do you good.

There are a lot of politicians out there that I disagree with but i don't doubt for a minute their ability. I just disagree with them. Maxine Waters is a certifiable whack job. The fact that this idiot can get elected over and over again says a lot about our system.

She's black, in a black district and they want someone they can identify wit. Got it. But to keep electing her…is, to me, incredible. There is no one else that can run there that would be better than this moron? That's hard to believe. I've seen this before with Adam Clayton Powell from Harlem in Manhattan. The guy was a lying , thieving criminal and they kept electing him. He was censured and (I think) kicked out of Congress, and they re-elected him. They've got buildings and streets named after this guy.

That's how I see Wacky Maxine. Duly elected Wacky Maxine.

    Sorry if it bothers you.

    Now there's a comforting thought.
Just a fact, she's the ranking member of the House Committee on Financial Services. She has more in her arsenal than words now.

#1 I am well aware of that.

#2 That means she's been around a long time. Doesn't mean she is qualified.

The problem is if you peel away power from the political process it just goes to those with the money. We need to fix the political process not take away power from it. Because that is the people’s only real avenue to exert influence (as corrupted by money and business as it’s already become).

What will she do next week?
she also wants to completely get rid of ICE.

Ocasio-Cortez slammed for 'hypocrisy' after her campaign fined for not providing worker's compensation coverage
The campaign of rookie U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has been fined by the state for not providing workers’ compensation coverage for a month last year.

The failure to provide the coverage to campaign staff is particularly awkward for Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic socialist who rose to stardom after unseating top Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley with a campaign theme of improving conditions for the working class.

“The employer did not have the required workers’ compensation coverage from March 31, 2018, to April 30, 2018, and was issued a final penalty of $1,500, which was paid,” state Workers Compensation Board spokeswoman Melissa Stewart told the New York Daily News.

“This coverage is vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries,” she added.

Republicans jumped on the revelations, telling the newspaper that the episode reveals “hypocrisy at its finest” by Ocasio-Cortez.

“The so-called champion of workers, when given her own responsibility, is not following the law. It’s unbelievable,” said state GOP spokeswoman Jessica Proud.

This isn’t the first time the congresswoman’s pro-working class credentials have been called into question.

She remains under scrutiny after avoiding answering questions on whether she will follow through with her own advice to fellow lawmakers to “have some integrity” and forgo their paychecks during the partial government shutdown.

Last year, Ocasio-Cortez was also mocked after lamenting the shuttering of a coffee shop in New York, even though it closed its doors thanks to the wage hike in the state – a policy that she supports.

“The restaurant I used to work at is closing its doors,” she wrote in a tweet. “I’m a normal, working person who chose to run for office, because I believe we can have a better future.”

The owners blamed the minimum wage hike for the closure. “The rents are very high and now the minimum wage is going up and we have a huge number of employees,” Charles Milite told the New York Post last month.

Around 150 people lost their jobs as a result of the closure of the coffee shop.

Haha. Clearly you don’t understand what ICE is, which is weird since the information has been provided here over and over again. Is it that you don’t understand the things you read or that you lose the ability to recall that information after 24 hours?

    Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

When you try to bring the Dem party establishment back to its pro-working class progressive ideals, here’s how they respond:

    Top story on Politico.

Don’t dare challenge members of your own party on grounds of integrity.

Their preference is to lose in 2020, and they likely will.

It’s looking like Biden or maybe Kamala or Beto will Cruise through the primaries.

And they will lose Ohio and Florida and Trump will have a second term.

Dems should be funding a rust belt arena tour for Sherrod Brown right now and demand that whoever wins the primary makes him their running mate. It’s their absolute best shot at winning back Ohio. Typically I put zero stock into a running mate but I think Brown is different.
