What are you having a hard time with? Congress takes an extended holiday break for Christmas. That means no sessions. That means all politicians in the House and Senate are off from work. That means most of them had leisure time to do with whatever they wanted and guess what? Some of that was traveling.

Her criticism of him doesn't make his actions any less callous, irrespective of her going to Florida. You didn't make it solely about her actions in Florida which I think we all agree weren't smart.
