It's more that she's down playing actual state sponsored and led genocides with economic migrants. Even in the worst cases, it's people fleeing crime.

It's a shame that the politicians who support Trump don't have the stones to come out and say that the problem with our immigration system that they talk about in general terms is that it caters too strongly to brown people and should focus on only white people. Honestly in our discourse would be helpful.

The RAISE act that the republicans tried to pass would make our system resemble Australia and Canada's which would prioritize high skilled highly educated single people.
So mostly imigrants from China and India, who are screwed by the current "Diversity system" that puts quota's on how many people from any country can enter.
The people who would be helped the most would be BROWN people.

If you want honesty in discussion, why don't you be honest and say what you really mean from the above quote.....

Alexandria is no different than Trump in that she feeds off those who think her policies can come to fruition. It won't. Her policies are way too liberal and absolutely makes zero sense. Federal guarantee of jobs at a $15 minimum wage is not only stupid but detrimental to society.

When a government does it, it's much more effective and much more through than when criminals just engage in violence.
That's why the US government was so successful at wiping out the native Americans, and gangs kill only a few thousand a year.

Also, the vast majority of these people aren't "fleeing violence" they're economic migrants, it's not remotely the same thing as what Ocasio-Cortez described.

I have regularly heard Conservatives, when people complain about there being a lack of opportunities where they live, suggest "Why don't you just move." Completely ignoring the poverty of the people.

Now when people are fleeing from violence you have "you're just fleeing poverty."
