Imagine this were any other person (even you). Imagine someone tweeted death threats about you. Imagine that hundreds (and thousands) of people including those tweeting death threats assaulted your work complex and entered the complex and were looking for you to kill you. Imagine having to be escorted out by police and barricaded in a room for safety.

For any other person on earth, in any other situation, everyone would agree it would be reasonable to say that person was in danger and it is a completely normal response to feel like you’re in danger.

Nobody would say “sure hundreds broke in to your work with some trying to find and kill you, but did any even make it down your hallway? Sounds like you overreacted, it was nothing to worry about, you were never in danger”.

Go up to a kid after a school shooting and tell them they were never in danger because the armed gunman didn’t enter their classroom, see if they agree.

I think I recall quite a few people discounting shook shooting survivors for just that.

Saying they weren’t actually shot so why are we calling them survivors.

soldiers have experience Post-trauma ordeals from war, so I would think it would be similar.

I just ran it through a grammar check and it said no errors. I get it sounds weird not having ‘the’ before the word place, but it’s not actually necessary.
