Bartender…there is nothing wrong with being a bartender. My father was a bartender for about 20 years (nothing fancy, neighborhood dive, shots and beers, tips in coins). I was a part time bartender in the army (overseas in a combat zone base camp with nothing to do at night. Just a time killer with nominal pay. Again, no big deal…nothing automated, no beer taps, all cans; multiple types of liquor, mixers were coke, ginger ale, 7Up and OJ. Tips were non existent. [and I know that none of you believe this. But whatever]). One of my clients owns a nice restaurant and bartends sometimes because he likes it. He’s a pretty good guy. So I have no reason to look down on bartenders. I do believe that AOC was bartending because she failed at getting a job in the financial field. No proof…just my belief. So I never criticized her for being a bartender. I did criticize her for not being able to get a job in her field.
AOC’s election…was a brilliant move and the fact that she did it using so little $$$$ is highly commendable. I wish they all did that. It was also done fair and square and she was duly elected. It was so brilliantly done that one has to wonder why this wasn’t done sooner and why it isn’t done ore often.
So, in effect, based on her background and coming into Congress, I had no reason to believe she was stupid. Hopefully, we are clear there.
In Congress…we hear about a freshman congresswoman with zero experience doing a sit in at the office pf the speaker of the house. This is a stupid thing to do. All it does is piss of the party hierarchy.
We hear about the same freshman congresswoman offering to “instruct” other members of the party (mostly season politicos) on how to effectively use social media. (Bear in mind, all these seasoned politicos have staffs, interns etc. with some young people on those staffs that would be perfectly capable of educating their bosses in social media.) Once again, This is a stupid thing to do. All it does is piss of the party hierarchy. She becomes like the pushy new employee that comes on board and tells all the veterans how to do things. No one likes those people.
AOC seems like a pleasant woman but then clearly aligns herself with Tlaib who is a vulgar wretch, and Omar and Pressly who have clear dislikes for the US and our policies. This is another stupid thing to do. She doesn’t need them and they will never be acceptable in our society. All it does is piss of the party hierarchy as well as the general pubic and links her to undesirables. Dumb move.
AOC mouths off and drives off Amazon and 20,000 (some say more) jobs from her community. Her reason is that we don’t need to give billion dollar tax breaks to billionaires…and she is 100% correct in this. However, her inexperience cause her to lack the understanding as to how things are in reality. I am all in favor of prohibiting tax breaks as a method of swaying (bribing???) business to your community. I would fully support a federal law prohibiting this. But that law doesn’t exist and communities, states etc. compete with each other in this way. Amazon was going to go somewhere (and they did). So AOC’s lack of understanding the system in which she is now working, cost thousands of jobs, untold amounts of growth all over the NY area, and billions of dollars in future revenue from that growth and additional jobs. She assumes that she knows more than the mayor (that might be true), the governor and all the movers and shakers in NY and she, almost single handedly, caused Amazon to go elsewhere. This is the height of stupidity.
AOC calls for student loan forgiveness……just forget about loans that people willingly took and others (including me) have struggled to pay back. This is another stupid idea (albeit one shared by others.) The student loan process and who has access to what should be attacked and not the loans that are already out there. (NOTE: if this does get passed…next comes writing off credit card debt.)
AOC calls for rent suspension…sounds great but the building owners have expenses too. What do they do? Rent is an agreement to pay a fee for services rendered (use of the premises). Would she or any of the congressionals agree to forgo their salaries from the government (another fee for services rendered scenario). I doubt it. Another stupid idea.
AOC lays out the Green New Deal……we’re supposed to believe and accept that a freshman congresswoman with zero experience has the ability to lay out the US energy agenda for the next 30+ years at a cost of $20 -$100 trillion. Her believing that she has the ability to come up with this scenario is another indication that she is stupid. To that add the fact that doesn’t have the common sense to understand why the vast majority would write this whole thing off as coming from a radical loony.
Call her whatever you want…stupid, inexperienced, unfocused, over confident, lack of vision…whatever. Point is is that she is nothing near where many of you give her credit. She doesn’t deserve the rock star status she is given. She is way overrated…especially by herself…and nowhere near where many think she is. She is like Paris Hilton…famous for being famous but has actually done nothing and looks good doing it.
