Ocasio-Cortez raises $200K to fight food and housing insecurity during video game battle

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for low-wealth Americans as part of a fundraiser during which she played video games online.

"We did it!" the lawmaker exclaimed in a tweet over the holiday weekend. "$200k raised in one livestream (on a whim!) for eviction defense, food pantries, and more. This is going to make such a difference for those who need it most right now."

On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez teamed up with the head of Canada's New Democratic Party, Jagmeet Singh, to play the popular video game Among Us.

Maybe Chuck and Nancy need to die off before we have a progressive party but I can't think of a freshman congressman whose impact has been as significant as hers

This insanely stupid Josh Hawley tweet - where he argues democrats are both corporatist and Marxists - reminded me of the AOC discourse.

To many on the right, Ilhan, AOC and company are dumb politicians who haven't done anything and are way out of their league. I am literally constantly being told this. All the time. "What have they done? They're so stupid!".

All election we' heard from those same people that Joe Biden is going to bend to the will of the left and lead like a Communist or whatever. That he's an empty vessel for the radical left. A vote for Joe is a vote for socialism!

So who exactly do they think is forcing his hands? Who is dragging him so far left that with a straight face people say Biden is a radical? Of course it's not the AOC/Ilhan/Bernie wing! The women especially are failures! Maybe some mysterious forces? I don't know but it can't be these people!

Nancy has done a great job getting things pushed through the House... Which is her job.

She's played a major role in...

1. Preventing the Bush administration for privatizing part of Social Security.
2. Passing ObamaCare
3. Blocked efforts to start offshore drilling again.
4. She's been a constant proponent of LBGT rights, since before AOC was born.
5. She's pro Hong Kong, and met with pro-democracy leaders, while being a continued pain in Chinas *** her entire career. She tried to push Trump in holding his promise to label China a currency manipulator.

6. She voted against the Iraq war.

She's honestly done more than every "progressive" in the entire congress combined. And it's really frustrating hearing how much disrespect she gets form people who, quite frankly, don't have a clue about what they're talking about.

I will say this. AOC has gotten better. And she seems like she's willing to put forth effort to continue getting better. But things have never gotten done in politics anywhere by "caring a lot". It's nice that she cares. It's nice that she's still connected to her roots in this country. But you have to be smart, and tactful.

The fact that she admitted her faults in pushing the Green New Deal too early was good. She showed humbleness. I think it was a wake up call for her.

I just wish liberals would stop acting like she's "so great". Jimmy Carter is a great guy who wanted to do amazing things, and is still more intelligent than 99% of the politicians out there. Doesn't make him a good president.
