Usual disclaimer: I don't read HuffPo, but this has been all over Twitter.

If you're looking for reasons that explain how she could possibly be competent, perhaps it's just because she's doing her job and not spending her time worrying about donors and special interests?

In less than two months as a member of Congress, Ocasio-Cortez’s interrogations as both a member of the oversight committee and the Financial Services Committee have already achieved national renown rare for a member of Congress. She produced viral video moments in committee hearings on pharmaceutical prices and campaign finance reform and made a splash when she brought attention to racial inequality in the legal marijuana industry.

Ocasio-Cortez’s star power has undoubtedly contributed to the exposure her committee exchanges have gotten. At age 29, she is the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress, and as a democratic socialist who unseated one of the House’s most powerful Democrats, the congresswoman is an object of extraordinary fascination for the media.

One advantage Ocasio-Cortez has over some colleagues is that she consistently attends even the most mundane committee hearings, since she does not spend any of her day calling donors for money. Her online presence is strong enough that she has chosen to rely on it exclusively to raise contributions in smaller increments.

But Reynoso and Abreu insist that her knack for clever questioning, which is a marked contrast with other members’ preference for grandstanding, is ultimately rooted in a commitment to moving the needle for her constituents.

“She’s an organizer and you can see that in her questions. She is asking questions that advocates need to know,” Reynoso said. “That is unique among most members.”

You know who that is, right? The president of all the people. It doesn't help all the people to pull a stunt like that. It weakens the American image of all the people.

Very small minded of the Dems. If what they were trying to accomplish was use Cohen to make a case against Trump, they could have done that next week. But no, they needed the added advantage of making him, er all of us, look bad on the world stage.
I won't let you get away with trying to both-sides this hearing. Dems came prepared, asked legitimate, fair questions and extracted valuable information from Cohen.

Republicans, who apart from making jackasses of themselves, made fools of themselves as well, but not disputing anything Cohen said, but just called him "liar!" over and over. It was pathetic.

Sorry man, those are just the facts.

I surmise she's only gained support since the meme persecution against her started.

What was it, exactly, that you wanted the Democrats to say? It wasn't their show, they had little to no say into what was going on. The Dems brought in a convicted liar to try to besmirch a sitting president and call attention from something decent he was to do on the world stage. One of them was called racist in another attempt to blackem (no pun) the reputation of the Repubs.

Actually it was specified multiple times he was not called racist. He just had a victim moment and wanted to exploit it.

I love when you start crying.

Nothing better than a crying Trumptard.

It would have been nice if the Republicans could have shelved their lust for Trump for one day and participated in trying to extract the truth for the American people. I feel that shouldn't be asking much, but with the current GOP, it is.

This has already been explained a thousand times, but Democrats wouldn't bring Cohen in if it was just his word they were relying on. That's why Cohen brought checks and other documents; so you wouldn't have to just take his word for it.

Cohen also had no incentive to lie. He was there voluntarily, and the only thing that would have come from his continuing to lie to Congress would be more prison time. He knows that better than anyone. So does doing that seem like something reasonable to you? He's not that stupid.

    I guess that's possible.

    That could happen.
You keep focusing on her bar-tending as if that's the only thing she did. She launched a book publishing firm for authors in the Bronx. She worked for the nonprofit National Hispanic Institute, serving as the Educational Director of the 2017 Northeast Collegiate World Series. She also worked on Bernie Sanders' Presidential campaign.

    Lust for Trump????

Maybe some people just support their president. I stood by Obama until he let me down. I stand by every president until I see what they are doing. I always give our leaders the benefit of the doubt. Millions of people think Trump is all wrong all the time.

As opposed to those who are obsessed with finding some reason to go against the president.

I will tell you what I told Special K.

Maybe you are fine with a criminal as president, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us are.

sure she has. She won. The fact that she won against someone with far greater resources means that she earned it more then most. You're just jealous
