You want to get dueling reports…great. We can do that. There's reports out there that will show the positive effects of getting business to your community.

Just like some reports swear sports teams do nothing while others say they are beneficial.

If the Wharton Report is so on target, then why do so many cities want these corporate moves, sports teams, super bowl, final four, olympics etc. Are they all wrong???

And more to the point…how would this fool know so much about the economics of a corporation bringing 20,000 jobs to her community three months into her tenure. This is a project worked on for months, if not years, by professionals with experience. Yet we are supposed to believe that some kid bartender knows more??

You would have gotten better advice asking a plumber,

    Sorry, not buying it.

I've spoken a lot about this particular thing. I'm not rehashing it. I'm not really for giving $3B in taxpayer money to the richest man in the world. Bribing him to do business. I guess fiscal conservatives are?

If you want to reduce her down to the Amazon/NYC deal, go ahead. I'll let you keep underestimating her as she continues to "radicalize" (honestly, it's deradicalizing) the masses. The movement Bernie, AOC, Omar, Tlaib, Pressley, the Justice Democrats and so on and so on are building is the only thing that gives me hope. That maybe someday we'll be the great country we pretend to be. One that helps out its own with it's unparalleled resources instead of fighting pointless wars, locking everyone up and continuing to expand income inequality in this country. One that says: "you know what, better things are possible". I know it's a long shot because our government is just an absolute mess and she'll be fighting against all the most powerful entities in the world, but it's nice to know there's people trying.

Look at how the GND and M4A have been popularized because of the work she and a few others have been doing? No one knew what the GND was 5 years ago. Now everyone does. And both are popular. As are most of her political wants. She is a fantastic advocate for bold and meaningful progressive policy. Something the Democratic Party has lacked for a long time.

The landscape of politics on the left looks drastically different now than it did half a decade ago. I think Bernie obviously deserves the bulk of the credit. He was the politician that made me realize how wrong I was about Democrats and how much better they can be. But AOC has resonated in a similarly powerful way. You can deny it all you want but the traction she has is real.

Democrats have to be dragged to the right positions on things, and she's slowly working on it.

We just need Chuck and Nancy and the rest of the Republican-lites to bow out. Or honestly croak. That works too.
The squad will grow bigger come a few days from now.

Let me guess, you were the guy saying "Sure some studies say smoking is bad, but there are other studies from Philip Morris that says it's completely fine".

I wonder if sluggo read this, lol.

Bartender congresswoman doesn't blink and saves $3billion.

Billionaire president blinks and costs us $7trillion.

Somehow in sluggo mind I'm sure he'll convince himself saving money is somehow worse than losing it [emoji23]

I'm not suggesting anything one way or the other regarding this Amazon thing. I don't have the time or interest to get into the details of that situaion. However, a couple things....this kind of thing is done ALL the time by states and cities......sweetheart deals to companies that don't necessarily need it to entice them to bring their business to their state/city to reap the long term benefits of the increase in jobs and tax revenue. Maybe not to this scale very often, but it's not a bribe and it doesn't benefit just Bezos himself, it benefits the company (who has many other stockholders, possibly including posters here, I know I should've).
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

AOC is someone who wants to rail against the rich, and here she is wearing a dress that only the rich could afford.

This is politics to him. He actually thinks this matters. Why? I have no idea. Sometimes she's a dumb poor bartender. Sometimes she's not? I don't know. Hard to keep the very consistent criticisms of her straight!

FNK, actually, what is the point. What is wrong with what she did? Does she always have to present as a "poor dumb bartender" like the right slanders her as?

The far-right's obsession with her is amazing. Absolutely amazing. I love it.
AOC is a hypocrite, but I know the left doesn't care because AOC is some darling.

how expensive was this dress, ManRam?

how many Americans can afford this dress, ManRam?

Also, we don't need to beat around the bush, it's sexism. Hard stop. Sorry if it triggers. I didn't say it in the first post because I know how people respond when -isms are alleged, but like...he's never going to ever be critical of a male wearing an expensive outfit. Never has. Never will.
hard stop, it's not sexism. you're so gullible, as if AOC is always the victim because she's a woman. this is a crutch and some always fall for it.

is this the trigger word the left used to influence people to protect their darling AOC.

any man that was pushing for working class Americans that could not afford this type of clothing, would be criticized the same way.

Democrats have been against anyone that has been against Obamacare. they've been against Amy Coney Barrett because she could help remove Obamacare.

what do people think of this from AOC.

    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020...ver-story-2020

Neither the financial collapse nor the fundamentally broken health care system were abstracts for Ocasio-Cortez, a vocal supporter of Medicare for All and a persistent critic of the Affordable Care Act. “The main reason why I feel comfortable saying that the ACA has failed is because it failed me and it failed everyone that I worked with in a restaurant,” she says. She would take wads of cash tips to doctor appointments. “You try buying insurance off of Obamacare,” she tells me, a line meant for her out-of-touch colleagues. (As a bartender, she did buy a plan, paying $200 per month, she says, for the “privilege” of an $8,000 deductible.) For a while after she was sworn in, even with a snazzy congressional insurance plan, Ocasio-Cortez says, she still rolled to the pharmacy and paid cash for her prescriptions out of habit. The first time she saw a doctor or dentist in years was when she became a congresswoman.

how many working class people are spending $14,000 on clothes?

    can anyone contradict this?

$2850 Loewe suit was ‘gifted’ to her and she happily accepted.
