    FYI,

Everyone that went to HS should know that this statue was not a gift from France.......look up Pulitzer, and what he did to get the money to make it happen. Everyone knows of Pulitzer, it was his newspaper that did the final contributions that allowed the statue to make it's way here and not Egypt.
The French Gov't actually had nothing to do with it.

I'll stick with Frankie smokes for now........

How about we wait until he's at least a decent player before we hand out cool nicknames. He's not deserving yet.

Everyone that went to HS? Seriously haha... What a snob *** comment... The story you get in school is definitely that it was a gift from France. I mean, look no further than your own comment of "Look up Pulitzer".

French gov't didn't finance it, but the gesture and meaning still hold. Pulitzer and company got the pedestal built and arranged the logistics. Beyond that, the designer/sculptor and builder were French, and I believe the Bartholdi himself was here for like 20 years trying to make it happen. And that dude is obviously very French.

But yes not as straightforward as it was in the Social Studies books... Cause that definitely doesn't happen, in our schools. The 3/5ths compromise gets a paragraph and its largely just mathematical commentary....
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

^^^ wasn't meant to be, but the history and claims go a lot further than I'm going to go into in this forum lol. And not my kids HS, that much I can guarantee lol.

French Prince is more like it...............but i'll stick to the fact that many gifts today are either returned or traded in...........so I'd be careful with the gift terminology lol. I once read it was like 1/3 of gifts are returned or re-gifted!!!
