ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (44-41) @ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (45-43)

    AT&T PARK

    Game 1: Thursday, July 5th @ 7:15 PM

    VS.
    Luke Weaver..........Johnny Cueto

    Code:
                                Weaver Cueto
                                17 Starts 5
                                4 Wins 3
                                7 Losses 0
                                5.16 ERA 0.84
                                1.45 WHIP 0.69
                                89.0 IP 32.0
                                82 K's 26
                                34 BB's 6

    Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Weaver looks to bounce back from a rough outing Saturday, in which the Braves hung eight runs on the righty in 4 2/3 innings. He fired a strong seven innings the last time he faced the Giants, fanning nine and giving up two runs on Sept. 3, 2017.

Giants: Sidelined for more than two months with an ailing elbow, Cueto will be making his first appearance since April 28. He faced the Cardinals regularly while pitching for Cincinnati (2008-15), but their roster has turned over significantly since then.

    Game 2: Friday, July 6th @ 7:15 PM

    VS.
    John Gant......Dereck Rodríguez

    Code:
                                Gant Rodríguez
                                5 Starts 6
                                2 Wins 3
                                3 Losses 1
                                3.92 ERA 3.16
                                1.15 WHIP 1.32
                                39.0 IP 37.0
                                34 K's 33
                                17 BB's 9

    Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Gant will make his sixth start of the season, one start removed from a gem against Cleveland on June 25, when he gave up one hit and struck out four in seven innings for a 4-0 victory. He fell to Atlanta in his last outing.

Giants:Should Rodriguez continue to improve at his current rate, he’ll merit National League Rookie of the Year Award consideration. He’s 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA in three home starts.

    Game 3: Saturday, July 7th @ 1:05 PM

    VS.
    Carlos Martínez..........Jeff Samardzija

    Code:
                                Martínez Samardzija
                                14 Starts 8
                                5 Wins 1
                                4 Losses 4
                                3.20 ERA 6.56
                                1.42 WHIP 1.68
                                78.2 IP 35.2
                                80 K's 26
                                45 BB's 23

    Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Carlos Martinez has looked a lot like his pre-injury self with quality starts in his last two games, giving up two runs in each game with 15 total strikeouts in wins facing Cleveland ace Corey Kluber and Arizona's Robbie Ray.

Giants: Samardzija has been hampered all season with tightness in his throwing shoulder, which was originally regarded as a pectoral strain. He’ll likely operate under a pitch limit around 75-90.

    Game 4: Sunday, July 8th @ 1:05 PM

    VS.
    Jack Flaherty..........Madison Bumgarner

    Code:
                                Flaherty Bumgarner
                                12 Starts 6
                                3 Wins 1
                                4 Losses 3
                                3.19 ERA 2.58
                                1.05 WHIP 1.12
                                67.2 IP 38.1
                                80 K's 30
                                19 BB's 12

    Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Jack Flaherty has made a strong impression since joining the rotation on May 15 after getting a taste of the Majors last season. He has 80 strikeouts this season and a franchise-record 100 in his first 18 career outings.

Giants: On Monday at Coors Field, Bumgarner blanked Colorado for six innings, but exited after yielding three hits to open the seventh. The Rockies scored three runs and proceeded to win, leaving Bumgarner with a loss.

Not a good effort from this team. Better days are ahead because there's too much talent on this team to keep playing bad.
