    John Tavares Free Agency

Where do you think John Tavares will go? And what kind of contract do you think he can get?

San Jose makes so much sense.
    Don't get the Toronto thing.
St. Louis makes sense but I doubt Tavares goes there.
Could honestly see a thing with Detroit based on a big market and close to home. Players should be realizing Detroit is going through a purgatory though.
Islanders are the same thing, so many question marks every year
If he went to Canada, ****, Calgary could make sense.

I believe SJ will be going all in for Karlsson,
Toronto only makes sense if Mathews wants out, Tor & Det are far fetched.
I see NJ or STL as being the greatest fit for him, especially with Hall or Tarasenko, but ultimately he stays in NY because they'll match any offer.

Tavares would go to STL *if* the money/terms are there. I don't see it happening but he would be a perfect fit. STL has $12M in cap space and a lot of problems to fix but this would fill their biggest need.

Tavares to STL is an obvious fit, but the Blues just don't spend the big money in free agency these days. They'll more likely try to find a less expensive fix and will ultimately fail to improve the team. They're wasting some great talent in STL. The goaltending is also a big problem there.

I think he will stay. I didn't think this about a month ago, but now I do.

I say he stays with the Islanders who are committed to win now under Lou.

The Islanders, Sharks, Bruins, Maple Leafs and Stars are all on what is being called the Tavares' list. Rumor is that the list could expand to include the Lightning or the Predators.

The Habs and the Golden Knights are currently not on the list.

WOW, I'm surprised that Boston is on JT's list of possible destination. Amazing that they've been a serious option for two of the top UFA's this off-season. We're never usually a destination for top end talent lol

I think he remains with the Islanders. Not sure how some teams on the list will fit in such a high cap hit with the other players on the roster (I'm sure creative minds can figure out the details). Islanders have a reputable GM and coach in place which really helps their chances. A strong first round of the draft and the reigning ROY don't hurt either.

I'm probably most fascinated to see him with San Jose though.

With talks of Couture re-upping there I can’t imagine how they figure him into their plans now.
