9th-rder Bryce Montes de Oca signs w/@Mets for $152,100 (full pick 260 value). Missouri RHP, not long history of health or strikes but fastball reaches 100 mph w/bowling-ball sink & upper-80s slider can be wipeout pitch. If goes straight to bullpen, could reach NY fast. @MLBDraft

Manny Rodríguez signed over slot, which was surprising.

Welcome to New York, @JKelenic_1019 !

We have signed outfielder Jarred Kelenic from Waukesha West High School (WI), the sixth overall pick in the first-round of the 2018 #MLBDraft. Kelenic will be assigned to the rookie-level Gulf Coast #Mets.

Draft guru @jimcallisMLB reports that first-rounder Jarred Kelenic signed for $4.5 million, more than a full million below his slot value of $5.525 million. A good deal for the Mets.

I still can’t believe the Mark Kotsay comparison is a good one.

You hope for a lot more on offense, on defense it would be great.

He gave Benintendi the same comp, seems to just really have a high opinion of young Mark Kotsay

He also used Benintendi as a comp for Kelenic.

I don’t know much about Woods, but I thought he would get about what the value and not that much over slot, but given that he is a HS kid is not surprising.

I live that pick to the scouts, not overly impressed from all I read about him, but the potential is there.
