    DeMarcus Cousins

    What happens with DeMarcus Cousins?
The track record isn't good for achilles tears, but he could still a useful center. Do the Pelicans pay him big to stay? Could they work out a sign-and-trade to Washington for Porter? Does a bottom-feeder with cap space take the risk and offer him the max? Could he be a reclamation project for the Spurs?

i think a S/T for Porter+ would be a good move for both teams. Wash can slide Obure into the SF role and NO fills a consistent wing void

The bottom feeding pistons should trade for him. They never got over that meltdown. But Cousins is going to end up on a 1 yr contract for as much as he can get and that way he can cash in 2019 if he ALLOWS the injury to heal.

    Idea's.....

Clippers/Pelicans... Jordan opts out and does a sign and trade for Cousins who also does a sign and trade. Jordan goes to the where he doesn't need the ball and can play D... Cousins goes to the Clips and can be the man and put up huge numbers.....

OKC/Pelicans....... George opts out and does a sign and trade for Cousins.... Cousins plays PF for Okc and George makes the Pels very tough! Cousins and Westbrook together would be a must watch just to see Cousins yell at Westbrook to give him the damn ball.....

LAL/Pelicans....... 2 for 1 special..... Brook Lopez and Caldwell Pope In a sign and trade for Cousins.... LA get's their next big man in a long line and he leads them "almost" to the playoffs.... Pelicans can use the 2 for depth and guys that know how to play.

Suns/Pelicans ..... Chandler and Bender for Cousins. Cousins can fill all the stats up and not have to play that dreaded defense. Pelicans get a veteran center that is about defense and rebounding with a literal lottery ticket in Bender. Bender turns into a decent rotation guy.....

Blazers/Pelicans... Sign and trade for McCollum. Portland needs a reset and would give the Pelicans another huge weapon. Blazers get a great talent and with their fan base comes to play more often and has a great year.

Will be interesting to see where he goes...

Nobody in their right mind will offer him a multiyear deal until he proves his health is good for a season. Think he will have to take a discounted 1 year deal no matter what. Lakers make a lot of sense if Lebron signs elsewhere.

Lakers also make a lot of sense for him on a multi year deal. Why would the Lakers want half a season of dmc if it's 1 year and say he's rehabbing for 1/2. Might as well and get some bang for your buck in case he returns to form.

I also wouldn't be shocked if he gets 80+ well because Lakers and it's definitely something they would do.

I would like Cousins to find his way unto Houston or Portland.

    Houston:
Try to work something out with Cappella, see if New Orleans is interested in him. Try to do a sign & trade; if not just match whatever offer sheet Cappella signs & trade him in December.

Trade Anderson & fillers for Melo.

    Cp3/Beverly(bring him back)
    Harden
    Melo
    Tucker
    Cousins

I don't believe Pels will offer Cousins a max, so maybe he signs a 2yr contract, opt out after 1st year. Rockets will miss Eric Gordon & Ariza but they need to find young cheap players that can grow into these rolls.

Pelicans had a better win% when he was out. 27-21 with him 21-13 without. Granted its less games but youd think replacing DeMarcus with Mirotic wouldnt result in that kind of success.

He went through 7 coaches in 6 years down in Sac.

Hes a great basketball player who doesnt know his own limitations and in turn holds his teams back. Hes a big that has the ball in his hands WAY too much. Especially when you have guys like Rondo and Jrue on your squad. He takes too many 3s a game for a guy with a % south of 40 that has the capability to eat up offensive boards. Oh and hes also a turnover machine. Hes holding himself back.

LAL: I don't think you can sign and trade 2 players in the same deal on one side (Lopez and Pope). I believe if it's a sign and trade they cannot be traded with anyone else. But it's an obscure rule so I might be wrong.

HOU: Capela makes Houston work. He -is- their defense, and his ability to finish off pnr and cuts spaces their dribble heavy offense. Cousins would demand the ball from Harden and Paul.

WAS: S&T for Porter makes the most sense for everyone. I like Wall much better as a 3rd option than a 1b. They still have to move Gortat and Mahimni regardless, likely for depth at the forward spots.

Cousins has never been great. He has all the tools to be, and he certainly looks the part. But it's turnovers, incredibly poor shot selection, and being generally uncoachable that's kept him from hitting that top tier. He should be prime Shaq but he can't get out of his own way.
