Well, I don't think defensive specialists care about the offence all that much because they all operate on the fallacious notion that if you lock down the opposing team you're going to win the game. This flies in the face of what basketball is all about at the end of the day, buckets. I think that's why there aren't that many defensive specialist head coaches anymore. They're better suited as assistants.

I think it's a little surprising because fans often credit Casey for giving this team structure and discipline. He was also pretty stubborn and unwilling to compromise (see Lowry). Since Lowry is lowkey Nurse's hype man, I'm starting to think lack of structure is what they were all bickering about.

Yes absolutely. FVV and Val are probably our two best value contracts.

Nurse on DeRozan's defence: "We need to challenge him on that end of the floor, and we need to hold him a little bit more accountable. We're going to do that, and he's on board with that."
hopefully this works. dont mind the thinking behind it

Sergio Scariolo just followed everyone remotely related to the Raptors org on Twitter. Probably going to be one of our assistants. If so, seems like the front court is going to be a big focus this year.

I think at some point we need to pick between Wright and FVV. I know Wright plays more sg now but with inconsistent shooting I donít think heís the best fit at back up sg behind DeRozan. I much rather him be a back up to Lowry where he gives us length and athleticism which are two things Lowry lacks.

Maybe FVV can be backaged with Ibaka for a trade now that heís an asset. Thatís just my opinion. I like the kid but pgs are a dime a dozen.

Lakers had Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Odom and Ariza. Celtics in a similar vein had top guys like Allen, KG, PP, Rondo but also the best perimeter defender in the league in Tony Allen.

GSW only have the PG/SF positions locked down. Cousins is still a question mark. Klay is a great fit but I don't think anyone has him slotted as one of the best players at the SG position let alone the NBA.

I think what makes the Warriors seem better than they are is that everything just clicks together so well. Most players have to sacrifice their game in order to fit on a super team because they have redundant playstyles or they operate in the same areas. For example, Wade and Lebron were both elite drivers and generated most of their points from driving to the basket. But the Warriors don't really need to sacrifice because their playstyles complement each other so well. Replace Klay with another top player, say Giannis or Harden, and suddenly their offence doesn't work so well anymore.
I am all aware of the super teams. You could go as far back as you want, show time Lakers, bad boy pistons etc.

And all the teams you just listed. For example

    - Ray Allen was no where near his prime with the heat. Neither was Battier. Still very good players but they are comparable to Iggy on the warriors bench.

    - Ariza was a rookie in LA and was never really a star player. I never cared for Bynum and I think we all saw that he wasnít that great. The team mates around him def made him better or made him look better. But he didnít last in the league with out that squad around him.

What the warriors have is legit 5 all stars who were all on team USA and are all in their prime. I donít know if weíve seen THAT before.

Talent wise okc was probably the closest having drafted 3 future mvps and Ibaka. But that still only equates to 3 true stars who were on the Olympic team. OKC has 5 now plus guys like iggy and Livingston who are very solid role players.

FVV showed his value when he went down. Wright couldn't run the second unit at all. It's not a move that will elevate or cripple us but it was needed nonetheless. Wright will likely cost more $$$ as a RFA in a cap friendly free agency next summer.

I think Norm can still be a valuable contributor based on Nurse's comments but his contract wasn't that bad given the market that year.

I def agree that FVV became a very important part of the rotation. I understand that. But so did Powell. We never got to really see FVV in the post season either. Not fully healthy anyways. But yeah I would keep FVV but to me Delon becomes a trade chip imo. Having them both is is a luxury we donít really need and I think if you package Delon with Ibaka it could net us a serviceable piece in the front court. No ones happy with Ibaka at the 4 and I think we could use some help there.

My point was that some players look better than they are because they fit so well. Would Green be an All-Star anywhere else? I don't know. Is DC still an All-Star? Remains to be seen.
