Last night, Rochester lost 4-3 in 10 innings with the new minor league rule of starting an extra inning with a runner on 2nd coming into play. DJ Baxendale (0-1, 0.00) started the 10th inning with the runner on and gave up a hit and a walk to allow the winning run to score. The run is officially unearned, but the loss counts just as much. Fernando Romero (2.57) started the game and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks and 3 Ks in 5 innings. Willians Astudillo was 2/4 with a double, a triple, 1 scored and 1 driven in.
Chattanooga lost 6-1 with Lewis Thorpe (0-3, 5.30) giving up 6 runs (2 earned) on 10 hits and 7 Ks in 4.2 innings. The Lookouts pitchers struck out 14 hitters and did not walk anyone. Offensively, there wasn't much. Brent Rooker was 1/4 with a double and a run. Zander Weil doubled him in and then stole 3rd, but was left there. Edgar Corcino was 2/3 with a double.
In the only bright spot for the franchise, Ft Myers rallied for 3 runs in the 8th inning to take a 7-5 win over Daytona. Jimmy Kerrigan was 1/4 with a run scored and 2 driven in. Joe Cronin (not sure if he is related to the HOFer or not) was 2/3 with a pair of runs scored. Travis Blankenhorn was 2/4 with a run scored. Caleb Hamilton drove in a pair with a double and scored 1. Ryan Mason (1-1, 2.38) allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 in 2.2 innings to earn the win.
Cedar Rapids lost the Quad Cities 6-5 in 13 innings with Royce Lewis going 3/6 with 2 runs scored, 1 driven in and a stolen base. Alex Kirilloff was 2/6 with a run scored and 2 driven in. Jovani Moran (0-1, 4.91) walked 3 and struck out 3 and struck out 3 in 1 inning and walked in the winning run (the runner had started the 13th inning on 2nd). The run was unearned and scored with 1 out in the 13th.
    1-3 for the farm.

Tonight, Rochester beat Pawtucket 5-1 with Dietrich Enns (1-3, 4.50) picking up the win. He gave up a run on 4 hits, a walk and 1 K in 6 innings. Both Ft Myers and Cedar Rapids had the night off tonight.
As I type, the Twins are down 7-5 going into the bottom of the 9th, so it has been an OK day for the franchise.

Cedar Rapids won 10-0 over South Bend in a combined no-hitter by Edwar Colina (2-0, 0.60) and Jovani Moran (3.48). Colina walked 5 and struck out 2 in 6 innings, so his command was not perhaps what the coaches wanted to see, but he was effective when he needed to be. Moran finished the game, walking 1 and striking out 1 in 3 innings to earn his 1st save. The Kernels got homers from Akil Badoo, Jean Carlo Arias, and Ben Rodriguez. Royce Lewis was 3/5 with a run scored. Alex Kirilloff was 2/4 with a double, 1 scored and 1 driven in.
2-1 for the farm on a night the pitching was pretty good.
