    Their attendance was up 30%

    Not counting their initial season (their top drawing year):

    They averaged 1,298,595 fans per season from 99-07, and 14-17
    From 08-13, their 6 seasons being competitive, they averaged 1,691,853

    A 30% increase in annual average attendance.

    Sure, that's lower than other ballclubs, but again;

    No chance for fan loyalty, horrible location with awful drive.

    And the Lighting and Bucs draw incredibly well. But they don't have those issues.

    Put them in a better location for 20 years and give them a competent front office for longer than 5 years, and they'll be a great draw.

    Rays to start Sergio Romo on Saturday vs Angels.

    If I'm the Angels I alter my lineup just to **** with them. Reverse order.

    http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/rays/2...omo-vs-angels/

    "So on Saturday night against the Angels, look for veteran right-handed reliever Sergio Romo to start and work the first inning, and maybe into the second, with rookie lefty Ryan Yarbrough eventually coming in to handle the bulk of the innings.

    The thinking is that Romo's combination of slow, sweeping breaking balls will stymie the six or so aggressive right-handers at the top of the Angels order.

    And that that in theory would allow Yarbrough to come in against the bottom third of the order and work deeper into the game without facing the likes of Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Justin Upton for an onerous third time.

    "The way that their lineup stacks generally speaking is very heavy right-handed at the top," manager Kevin Cash said when asked about the plan after Thursday's game."

    It's a good strategy, honestly. It's not like people are starting starters for all 9 innings potentially any longer. You will use a reliever at some point.

    Minnesota Twins acquire Chris Carter from the Angels for cash considerations, and he will report to their AAA affiliate.

    Ohtani to the dl with grade 2 UCL sprain. To be reevaluated in three weeks. That's sucks. Gotta think TJS is coming. Was having a hell of a year.

    Wasn't there an injury concern prior to signing him? Something left over from a previous year? I think I remember some concern, but that teams were not put off.
