Lots to look forward to this year, Kopech, Hansen and Eloy all have a legit shot at being on the 25 man roster sometime this summer. Zack Collins needs a big year, Robert and the rest of the pitchers need some more seasoning.

While I can understand why they might have given Fulmer the #5 spot, it seems like Santiago had a better shot at putting together a pretty decent 1st half as a starter and actually creating some trade value. Plus, he would be our only lefty starter.... Not to mention, based on the way Fulmer looked in some of his spring appearances, he may get lit up and ruined for good, against regular big league lineups. Any thoughts?

    Starters at what level?

    Covey
    Danish
    Kopech
    Volstad
    Hansen
    Cease
    Dunning
    Adams, Spencer
    Guerrero, Jordan
    Stephens, Jordan
    Clarkin, Ian
    Puckett, A. J.

The role of Volstad would be preparation as a starter THIS year, after González is traded again (and Santiago replaces Shields and his 6 ERA).

The roles of Kopech, Hansen, Cease and Dunning would be preparation to compete for the rotation next spring.

We need 3 of the 4 to be ready, or luck out with this year's minor league performances of Covey or one of the others...

I am on the fence. I think it's time for Fulmer to show what he can do at the big leagues. If he doesnt cut it send him down to become a pen arm.

I think Santiago and Fulmer will flip spots here and there and Fulmer eventually does decent enough to remain the 5th starter. I do agree it sort of kills Santiago's trade value though.

Would you bring him back for a look see ?

    Rays released RHP Daniel Hudson.

Hudson was acquired from the Pirates last month as part of the Corey Dickerson trade and had been projected to work in a setup role this year for Tampa Bay, but he'll get the boot after yielding nine earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in the Grapefruit League. The 31-year-old right-hander signed a two-year, $11 million free agent contract with Pittsburgh in December 2016.

At the risk of parroting you, yes I would. Hudson should have never been traded, at least not in the crappy deal he went in anyway. I'd look into bringing him back, send him to Charlotte for awhile and see what he's got left.

This guy is flying under the radar , having a great year as a CF in Winston-Salem. The only thing is,he is 24......so it needs to happen quick for him...

    .

Hitting .500 against right-handed pitching at any level is rather notable.

The Dash have been on fire recently, so there's a lot of goodness to report here. Let's start with the offensive highlights:

    Luis Alexander Basabe: .433/.485/.767, 3 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 1 SB
Micker Adolfo: .357/.400/.679, 3 2B, 2 HR (also just named Carolina League Player of the Week)
    Joel Booker: .348/.400/.652, 1 2B, 2 HR, 3 SB
    Gavin Sheets: .364/.440/.500, 3 2B
    Ti'Quan Forbes: .300/.440/.400, 2 2B
That lineup is just a monster. But there were plenty of pitchers who performed well too:

    Dylan Cease: 1 start - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K
    Jimmy Lambert: 2 starts: 10.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 10 K
    Dane Dunning: 2 starts: 12.1 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 15 K
    Kyle Kubat: 2 games: 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
This Winston-Salem team is a ton of fun to watch, and it's only going to get better with phenom outfielder Luis Robert set to join the squad in May.
