The Dodgers front office probably feels stupid for wanting to unload Kemp immediately after trading for him.

    Future Hall of Shamers:
    (1) B.A.L.C.O. Barroids (2) Mark McJuicer (3) Jose Chem-seco (4) Rafael Palmeiroids (5) Ken Chem-initi (6) Jason Gi-andro (7) Ryan Fraud (8) Muscle Melk (9) Woman-Ram (10) Shammy Sosa (11) Roger Clear-mens (12) A-Roid (13) Ryan HGHoward

No, that's the pitcher only award

The hitter only award is the Hank Aaron award and the silver slugger awards for each position.

MVP is for the leagues best player overall.

Nobody gives a flying ***k about the Hank Aaron Award. The MVP Award is very rarely given to pitchers, so what's the point to even give them consideration in the first place? Starting pitchers only participate in 20% of a team's ballgames, so why even bother?

Because sometimes, pitchers can still create more value than a hitter even though they only participate in 20% of their teams games. Because of their impact in those 30 some odd games.

Well the Dodgers are 4 games into the second half and he's had 3-4 and a 5-5 including 2 hrs . Unless you are saying the second half is after the allstar break which is more like 40%

Javy Baez stole home for the 4th time in his career. Straight up nobody in the league can pull off the swim slide as effortlessly and expertly as he does.

    What?

He was talking about last year.

And regardless of when you want to say the 2nd half starts, I donít think 4 games makes a 2nd half.

The statistical second half begins with Game #82.

I agree. My point is MOST people and I really don't know why consider the ASB as the end of the first half and the start of the second half. My point is the Dodgers are already into the second half and by the time the break comes they'll only have like 66-67 games left. Thats hardly a half.

He was crap post all star break last year. Is that better?

Are you ok with a rotten 66-67 games but not with 81 or something? Youíre arguing nonsense.

The fact that all stars are selected using such a small sample size betrays the spirit of the analytics movement.

Why bestow such an honor on what could be a fluke?

Larger bodies of work should be considered. Also, this way the game will more likely feature players that fans actually know and want to see. The ASG is a PR stunt for the sport, anyhow. Put your best faces forward.

The post All-Star break from the previous season should also be used IMO.
