Is this the significant Free Agent signing that Bowden was suggesting?

Great! Good signing. Way better than McCutchen.

Bruce was our most productive hitter last year. Welcome back.

But if this is all we do, I'm still going to be thoroughly disappointed.

Great deal for being short term (3), and at and AAV of $13 mil.. Reminds me of the Grandy signing that was very solid.

The only thing I won't like as a result of this, is Conforto goes back to CF.

Which also means Lagares is almost certainly going to be traded.

Good deal Mets. Just don't be finished yet.

We still need a 2nd or 3rd baseman (depending on where Cabrera plays) and another RP. Another SP would be great but it will probably be Bartolo Colon.

Or that they have plenty of uncertainty about Conforto’s health and Smith’s ability.

I don't see where Conforto's health would be an issue long term.. Am sure they just wanted someone who can play RF and 1st base when needed. I don't think this takes away from Smith unless he struggles into May or June. He's going to be our 1st baseman to start the season.

This just means Conforto is our CF next year when he's ready.

Glad he is back though. He is a solid bat and at a reasonable price.

I still think they need a 3rd baseman and starting pitcher.

    Glad they did something.

3/39 is pretty good. I can’t hate this deal.

    I hope there’s more coming...

I say is a good deal, because is only money and not a terrible lot either.

Rather they spend on him, than send prospects for McCutchen who is a corner guy now, not a CF.

Question is does he stay in RF and Conforto becomes the CF for the next three years?

Or does he go to first?

But I would have rather had Moustakas honestly.

I would still try to trade for McCutchen, Jay can play first more when Conforto comeback. As I said in other post bring McCutchen in would only raise 7.5 million with more production then Lagares. never KNow wemay even beable to sign T. Frazer for 3rd

Agreed. Actually, not a fan of this signing. I mean, from a "value" perspective, it's a great deal for the Mets. However, what they really needed was a CF'er.

Conforto/Nimmo were your RF'er. Would've much preferred a McCutchen/Harrison acquisition -- which I had actually started to believe was going to happen over the past couple of days, particularly with Cole appearing to be going to Houston. Feels like the Mets were giving up on a "best fit" for the "best value".

Worried now that the press seems to be implying that Castro is on his way to becoming our 2B'man this season -- again, "best value" (i.e., Marlins simply looking to dump for no return, and may be willing to toss cash in the deal) vs. "best fit" (such as a Kipnis or Harrison). I'd prefer they sign Frazier to a 2-year deal to play 3B, and shift Cabrera to 2B.
