Ramirez played 577 inn at 2B last season and 736 at 3B. Pretty safe to say he can be either.

And I'll go Schoop because I'm slightly projecting here

    I recognize Ramirez as a 3B, since that's where he'll play in 2018.

He's going back to 3B next year, Kipnis will be at second. The Indians already announced it.

Is the list of 2nd baseman that bad that Murphy is among the top 5? I get what he has done offensively the last 2 years but the dude has to be maybe the worst defensive 2nd baseman in baseball. He has no range, a hard time with routine plays, turning the double play, and terrible defensive instincts.

I would move Rendon there if I was the Nats and have Murphy play 3rd. Same positional adjustment so his offense would play fine there.

It's not that the list of second basemen is that bad, it's that Murphy's offense is that good. fWAR accounts for defense and despite Murphy's deficiencies, Altuve is the only 2B that rates higher than him over the last three seasons.

Doesn't mean Ramirez hasn't been and/or couldn't be one of the best 2B in the game.

I do understand he's been a monster offensively and that WAR is mostly accounted for through offense. I guess its just hard for me to put him among the top 2nd baseman when he can't play the position. Its not a sour grapes thing either. I would feel that way if he was still a Met.
