Absolutely. There are so many missed tackle and missed opportunities when you try to crush someone. I understand a big hit gets everyone pumped up, but you can't do that every single tackle. It'll kill his body and he's going to start missing tackles.

He has everything you want in a linebacker. He just needs to wrap up. If he had Borland's instincts though...good Lord he'd be the best linebacker ever.

However, currently I am helping train with Derek Carr from Fresno State get ready for his pro day and the draft. I am also working with Cody Kessler, the USC quarterback.

George Kittle was a surprise for me and he really came alive with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. A month ago, a tight end would have been near the top of my wish list for this team. I mentioned the possibility of getting Jimmy Graham as a free agent or drafting a guy like Mark Andrews, but I think Kittle may really emerge next year. Garoppolo seems to rely on the TE like Brady relies on Gronkowski. Of course, Kittle is no Gronkowski, but he's a very capable option. Maybe Hikutini could be a factor next year as well.

This was a really strong first draft by John Lynch. Would have liked to see Solomon Thomas be better and Foster less hurt, but a majority of this draft class has been a factor.

I still think we could use a TE, I don't think Kittle is a game changing TE... but who knows maybe he's a Witten/Kelce type rather than a Jimmy Graham / Rob Gronk / Fred Davis type.

I'm also with rap on this one, not b/c I don't think he's going to be great... but I'd like to see more game changing plays from him.

Yes PFF rated him one of the best and someone mentioned that opposing RB's would actually avoid the hole that Foster was in...

Granted these are different defenses, fewer games, and roughly equally bad teams, but...

(stats may not be 100% accurate but its close enough)

    Foster 7.4 tackles 0 sacks 0 FF 0 FR 1 PD 0 INT
Willis (rookie year) 10 tackles 5 sacks 2 FF 1 FR 5 PD 0 INT

forced fumbles, sacks, PD's are game changing plays... need to see more from Foster in this regard. Some tried to throw false praise to the 49ers with regards to their yards allowed per carry stat from last year, but ultimately they finished somewhere around 22nd in football in rush defense, and when you have guys like Buckner & Foster who are supposedly superstuds, then something doesn't make sense.

Especially since Peterson, Gurley, and Elliot ran right through us this past year.
