    Tennessee fires Butch Jones

Multiple outlets are reporting that Tennessee has fired HC Butch Jones.
Per Gridiron Now's Jimmy Hyams, Jones was given the option to coach the final two games of the season but declined. The Volunteers built up a groundswell of hype as potential SEC champions in 2015 and 2016, but while Jones guided the team to nine-win campaigns both years, Tennessee never reached the conference championship game under his watch. He was initially hired by the Vols in 2013, after which he went on to compile a 34-27 record (just 14-24 in conference). His team struggled to a 4-5 mark through the first nine games of the current season, with Saturday's 50-17 loss to Missouri serving as the final nail in Jones' coffin. Tennessee DL coach Brady Hoke is expected to take over on an interim basis to close out this mess of a season.
