Darvish for 7 years sounds awful. If we could do 3 or 4 years I'd be down.

    Agreed, about the Darvish part.

You should try the second part. It's pretty swell.

7 years for a 31 year old pitcher seems like a lot. If I am Darvish that is my asking price its his last big payday and some team is going to pay it.

A little more than double what he made last year.

I don't believe that report. I think coming into the offseason Darvish would've jumped at that deal in a heartbeat. Now that the offseason is not moving at all I think he'd jump at it even faster.

Mussina also throw 200+ innings 7 out of 9 years prior to getting that deal from the Yankees. Not counting his first year that he was called up. 93 had shoulder injury. 94 was the player strike, so probably would have had 200+ innings in 8 of 9.

Darvish had one season of 200+ innings, in the majors. Back in 2013.

He was also coming off six straight 5+ WAR seasons all of which he threw at least 200 innings. Not the best comparison.

If it wasn't for the strike shortened season in 94 and his shoulder soreness in 93 he would probably have had 5+ WAR seasons 9 straight seasons(92-00)

Recently I have seen a few teams do signing bonuses. Does anyone know how they work? Do signing bonuses also count towards the AAV? Is there a max % of contract that can be used towards a signing bonus?

You misunderstood his post. He's the "butt' of the jokes at the firehouse because he is very, shall we say, toothy and no one will let him do it anymore. He's very upset. He would love to have agreed with your entire statement, he just knows that he gives no pleasure, only scrape marks. Once it was so bad and he had injured so many of his crew, he was the only one to respond to a fire.
