Definitely one of the best games of the season even with both Hassan and Bam out. The defensive effort was awesome. I thought they were going to let the Cavs back in the game when they cut it to 10 in the 4th but the pulled away again to put it away.

Great win over the Cavs. And we need to win the next 4 games no doubt. Whiteside is coming back and a big reason we've been playing better is that JJ is returning to last seasons form past few weeks and TJ is showing glimpses of last year also. Thank goodness.

And whoever is hoping we get TOR over BOS (without Hayward and Kyrie in the 1st round) or CLE (who we just beat down pretty badly and lack team chemistry, which will cause LeBron into hero ball which we showed we can defend well against) y'all are crazy. Toronto is playing incredibly well. DeRozan has taken the next step and is in full star mode this season. Size with Ibaka and Jonas. Lowry usually disappears in the postseason but this year they have some young solid players and more depth with Delon Wright and CJ Miles. TOR will be tough this year. If Boston gets back Kyrie and they make it past the 1st round, BOS and TOR will meet in the ECF for sure and it'll be a bloodbath and great series. Our best chance is playing Boston 1st round without Kyrie recovering from his meniscus surgery. And then playing Cleveland/Philadelphia winner in the next round. Then we'd face Toronto in the ECF for sure where we'd lose in probably 5-6 games. That's absolute best case scenario for us.

tbh im coming back on my previous statement. I think we can legit win any series in the east except vs the raptors (which would be a very competitive 6 game series). Also think wade is legit the X factor for us. Compare how good he played last game vs the cavs to how disengaged he sometimes can look. His defense vs the cavs was absolutely elite. IF he can play like that consistently in the playoffs we are a dangerous team for sure

I guess I'm alone in being the "pissy pessimist" by expecting Miami to get exposed in the playoffs.

Specialists like Ellington have an uncanny way of disappearing in the playoffs as teams lock in on the scouting. Our hand-off offense will be non existent. We'll have to rely on Dragić, Wade and JJ so heavily to create off pick and roll or isolation and they won't be able to produce against the higher level defenses.

Brick-layers like Winslow get worse, not better under pressure of the playoffs.

We just don't have enough offense, and I'm not confident in Whiteside adding anything special. I don't know of any point in time Whiteside took over or stepped up when we desperately needed it. I'd wager to say that in 4 years he's been here he's never lead us from behind to win even 1 game. There might have been a Denver game a few years ago but I don't think he finished the job.

We have enough to get out of the first round if it's not the Cavs. That said, I swear the Wizs are low key trying to tank for the 7th seed. I'm rooting hard for the 76ers to get into 3rd. We need insurance, lol.

Miami HEAT Game Thread 2017/18 Season

This is the first year ever where I wouldn't be shocked to see any team in the east 1-8 go to the finals

Tor has the top record...but it's the same average TOR team

Would I expect the Bucks or us to beat them? No but I could see it for sure

Then there's the Cavs who will be a 3rd or 4th seed

LeBron doesn't have a top supporting cast anymore...it's Lebron and a bunch of average

    Playoffs should be fun

Lbj is going to another Finals this season.

    I'd say that's 50% likely

In past years it was 100%

He has a average team of role players for the first time in years

those fcking pesky nets man. Wade had another chance but just came up short. Give him credit for playing incredibly hard but he needs to start hitting his shot more. Cant have him shooting such low percentages during the playoffs

Winslow had some costly bad plays to end the game. Especially that turnover near the sideline. Tyler and Wellington were non existent.

Felt Spo missed the opportunity to get KO back in the game to start OT.

The Heat's highest-paid player questioned why the team is matching up when "we've got one of the best centers in the league."

"A lot of teams don't have a good center," Whiteside said. "They are going to use their strengths. It's bulls---. It's really bulls---, man. There are a lot of teams that can use a center."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra spoke to reporters prior to Whiteside's tirade and said the center is rebuilding his stamina.

Whiteside, for his part, seemed uncertain as to whether the coaches have him on a minutes restriction, noting, "The minutes have been like that all year. It's really frustrating. ... It's tough. I don't know, man. It's crazy. I don't understand it."

Asked if the situation has caused him to contemplate his future in Miami, Whiteside replied, "I don't know. Maybe."

Whiteside doesn't make Miami any better of a team at least 75% of the time.

I thought this was completely and thoroughly established.

Whiteside took quite a few idiotic forced shots to begin the game and we didn't build that big lead until KO entered the game and started raining 3s and playing smart basketball. When he checked in the second time he seemed to play much better.

Yes, Wade fed him a few baskets he finished well. And he also finished on a couple of those forced shots including one where he miraculously split a double team with a reverse spin move. But for the most part, Whiteside doesn't know how to play team-oriented smart and efficient basketball. He's clumsy in the post and still forces shots and is a black hole. He doesn't set smart picks and attempts to slip 75% of the screens he sets. He still doesn't know how to set a solid pick and dive to the basket strong.

He's also not a proper defensive anchor because he doesn't communicate. It's why a team like Utah or GSW is leaps and bounds better with Gobert and Draymond on the floor and Miami is only slightly better with Hassan.

Like I've said all season... Whiteside is a good overall player, but a poor fit for what we need long term. They should have trade him early on.

Wow this will never fly with Pat. Thing is his trade value is trash right now and I have a hard time seeing any team give up a first round pick (or anything of value) for a headcase with a large contract. Should have traded him when you could have IMO. No secret he's been a headcase since we've had him, but he's lost significant value after this year and now we're looking at maybe a 2nd rounder
