What a lunatic. Doesn’t even make an effort to lead this country.
Hes lost it at this point. Acting like a racist is what won him the election, now he doesnt know what to do so hes just automatically reverting to hyper racist to get out of a jam.

    So here’s the summary....

For many many years US history classes were just star spangled nothing but positive amazing accomplishments. Columbus discovering America, no mention of genocide. Expansion to the west, no mention of genocide. Industrialization without details of the laborers who died for striking. Etc etc

Post 1950s WWII victory feelings were strong and Cold War era meant a need to hype up patriotism.

Liberals, as we see even today with protests, tend to speak for social victims and full history. Conservatives have a stranglehold on blind patriotism.

So telling the full history of how we were founded is not indoctrination, it’s getting away for indoctrination and understanding that history is dirty and there’s a reason certain groups struggle more than others.

If factual history “radicalizes” people to want equality for all that’s a good thing.

Going back to white washed history as if we never do anything wrong is the same tactic authoritarians like NK take to create blind allegiance.

Yea acting like there was no propaganda in how we taught history before and still do is laughably ignorant. I'm not at all surprised by it though.

LOL, you've never been to an American school. I grew up in the south, I was literally taught that the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. Confederate traitors were idolized. Native Americans were non existent in the curriculum. The civil rights movement was never discussed in k-12.

What's wrong with just truth? Contextualize the good and the bad. It seems like some people take criticism on a bad thing from 300 years ago as an indictment on people today. It's just history, it's not personal and it's ok to point out when historical figures made mistakes. There are enough Americans and events we can glorify and celebrate without having to make ones up

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

Agreed, however some truths depend on the teller's version of it. Even just in sports, one side may say their team trounced the other while the other side might say their team kept it close until late in the game....both versions may have their truths.

Happened to catch the creator of the project being interviewed over lunch and heard her say something like 'we're not questioning the fact the country was founded in 1776, we're saying that instead of slavery being a side story in our history, that it's in the center where it should be'.......and I thought..center?! I'll need more to understand how she believes THAT to be true.
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

Well if she's black, how could she NOT believe that to be true..?

What specific issues do you have with the 1619 Project?

it's not anti Muslim, it would be anti radical Muslim. I don't know why any Muslim Americans would be cheering.

I can read what has been happening.

Liberal professors pushing more of a political opinion than curriculum.

throughout Trump's presidency I've read stories of teachers who were biased against students that publicly supported Trump. this is flat out wrong. I've read how they push more things more left rather than simply what they are told to teach.

the evidence of professors/teachers being more liberal is evident.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/ar...ral-professors
The Problem With All Those Liberal Professors

The paucity of Republicans at many top schools hurts everyone.

    https://www.laurinburgexchange.com/o...shing-students
An ex-Communist Romania-born academic recently left his tenured position at Columbia University because the Ivy League school is “on its way toward full blown communism.”

The latest study of American campuses shows that nearly 40% of the colleges surveyed did not have one professor on their faculty who identified as a Conservative. Yet, some still say Socialist indoctrination of classroom politics is a right-wing fabrication?
