Probably another year in the A where he can hopefully stay injury free and dominate, then hopefully push for a shot with the big club by years end.

I would love Hamilton but not at the cost of Liljegren.
I'll x2 ya back on that all day long.

Both 1 yr left. Myers takes up $1.5M more on the cap than Jake. Myers is a RHD. Leafs need RHD, Jets need LHD.

    2. Brown for Murphy
Murphy has 5 or 6 years left at $3.8M per. Has all the tools you want in a top-2 defenseman. Needs the smarts

    Rielly - Myers
    Dermott - Zaitsev
    Hainsey - Murphy

Leafs add two mammoth RHD that skate very well. Murphy is pretty physical and fights.
    Interesting proposal...Shanny...you're up!

Just thought of this with Weber out half of next season and him and Price making big money, I wonder if there is a way to get both guys at a discount:

Weber with 21% retained (both him and Zaitsev will cost $6.18M)
Price with 26% retained (both him and Andersen will cost $7.75M)

    For:

    Gardiner
    Zaitsev
    Andersen

Montreal Cap and actual dollars paid:
    Y1: $17.98M, $18.71M
    Y2: $13.93M, $14.66M
    Y3: $13.93M, $13.30M
    Y4: $8.43M, $9.14M
    Y5: $8.43M, $7.145M
    Y6: $8.43M, $7.34M
    Y7: $4.4M, $2.58M
    Y8: $4.4M, $2.16M

Before Trade: $146.857M in cap hit, $118M in salary
After Trade: $79.93M in cap hit, $75.035M in salary
Savings: $66.945M in cap hit, $42.965M in salary

Toronto Cap and actual dollars paid:
    Y1: $13.93M, $15.84M
    Y2: $13.93M, $15.84M
    Y3: $13.93M, $11.96M
    Y4: $13.93M, $14.09M
    Y5: $13.93M, $8.105M
    Y6: $13.93M, $8.66M
    Y7: $13.93M, $7.92M
    Y8: $13.93M, $6.34M

Before trade: $46.05M in cap hit, $46.05M in salary
After trade: $111.44M in cap hit, $88.775M in salary
Cost: $65.39M in cap hit, $42.725 in salary

We get the best goalie in the world, and a RD to play with Rielly and if we need too, both guys are extremely cheap after year 4 and can be moved if cap space gets tight. If the cap keeps rising we'll be fine.

Montreal saves a tonne of cash and cap space long term. Lose the deal but could trade off the pieces if need be.

*Would definitely need to move Marleau's last year and Hortons contract but we should be alright cap wise if we go cheap and young with the rest of the roster.

I'll say it again... I don't want weber in any deal. Let him kill Montreal for the foreseeable future or let someone else take on that burden. Weber has aged into Polak.
