I like Joe Thorton and would sign him if he wanted a cheaper deal for a run at the cup. Some were saying he is going to get 4million, and I would rather use that money towards resigning Bonino or getting Hanzal honestly. I kinda want us to trade for Nikita Zadorov as a 3rd pairing Defender. He fits the bill as a physical and tough presence, he hits like a beast and is young. I believe we will sign a few players and I also believe we will make one impact trade this offseason to improve our roster for next year.

Players available in free agency I would like us to look at:

Martin Hanzal (if we don't resign Bonino I believe he would be a great option)
Dwight King (a big bodied player who shows flashes that he can be a value option in front of the net)
Thomas Vanek (would be a great addition scorer to any line)
Dmitry Kulikov (I believe he could successfully 3rd pairing D who may turn into a steal like Schultz)
Michael Stone (could be a good second pairing or third pairing D)

My dream would be to sign Hanzal, and Kulikov .
Trade (Maatta, Hagelin, Rust, and pick for Kane *salary retained* McCabe)

    Lines:
    Kane- Crosby - Hornqvist
    Guentzel - Malkin - Kessel
    Sheary - Hanzal - Wilson
    Archibald-Rowney-Kuhnhackl

    Defense
    Letang - Dumoulin
    Schultz-McCabe
    Kulikov-Cole

I think our offseason will come down to how much Dumoulin, Sheary, and Schultz want. I can see any of these having their rights traded if they ask for too much. I feel Bonino will come back and sign a contract maybe 3.5-4 million per year range, but I put Hanzal in just in case.

Martin Hanzal depends on bones and what contract demands are but possible 3c
    Dwight King to slow
Thomas Vanek no to inconsistent slow not enough need in top six
Dmitry Kulikov possible option on d
Michael Stone see above not sure which d has more grit and toughness of these two

I would not trade rust alone for kane not even at 90 % retained.

So. After Fleury goes, the Pens will have roughly $21M to spend on:

Peter Mrazk was exposed by Detroit. I wonder if Vegas considers him instead of Fleury. If so I would guess Rust would be the next likely player to be selected. I hope we don't lose Rust.

As for Hagelin, it seems to me you guys have short memories. I doubt we can find a player with his combo of blazing speed, PK ability and scoring touch. Injuries ruined his past season. Don't forget after his trade to Pittsburgh last season he had 27 points (10 goals) in 37 games with a +18 rating and in the playoffs he had 16 points in 24 games (6 goals) and a +9. Excluding the strike shortened season he's been a 30+ point scorer every season. Outside of 43 games with the Ducks he is always a plus player while being a key cog on the PK. We definitely need to keep him around. His skill set is a perfect fit on this team. He'll rebound next year as a healthy player.

I don't dislike Hagelin, I just do not like his 4 million cap hit. I heard Sheary is looking for 4 million per as well. I feel like for an extra million we could have someone like James neal on the team. Will I debate his speed? His ability to play PK? His plus minus rating? No to all of those. I will debate his cap space is a bit much, but I do agree if healthy he could be worth his cap hit.

As a side note I read a report Penguins are trying to talk Radulov in taking less money to play for a chance at a cup and to play with his friend Malkin. Same site reported we are going to offer Bonino a 4 year deal.

That's my point. I think once he is healthy again he'll be worth his cap hit. Reports are he never fully recovered from his broken leg. IMO 4 million is a fair price for somebody with his well rounded game. Now Sheary for 4 million, no thanks. Solid player but it's pretty obvious playing with Sid boosted his #'s. I hope he gets that 4 million but not in Pittsburgh.

Agreed Vikingsfan. I believe man of our RFA's may use there stats and winning two cups as leverage. I just hope we sign them all to decent deals or trade them for good value. I would not mind if our cup winning did allow us to sign some FA's for a 1-2 million one year deal stanley cup discount such as: *also before anyone gets up in arms it would be for a bottom 6/veteran leader role* Doan, Jagr, Thorton, Hainsey, Iginla.

If Sheary does leave I'm open to Sprong playing on Sids line. I love the potential Sprong has.

I love Hags his speed and pk ability are awesome. He fits are system perfectly as a 3rd line wing. The fact is he will be worth his cap hit, wing if one of are strengths we need A good third line center and a solid fourth line center.
Archibald can replace most of his production for 3 million less
