Itt's all political, so I'm not going to jump 100% on one side. I don't like trading an arms dealer who is a murderer for some entitled jock, no matter who it is. However, I do like getting our people back, so it's a tough decision. The only thing is that she was there 9 months and there was an army veteran who was there for years on a similar exaggerated charge who was left to rot. I'm sure his family isn't too pleased at this moment. Even if we had gotten both in a 2 for 1 swap, it would be a bad deal to allow that murderer to go free, but it would have been more understandable.

From my understanding: Russia was absolutely not going to make any other trade than this. It was either this or nothing.


The arms dealer served 19 of his 25 year sentence and there are reports coming out that he is pretty sick.

So, if this is indeed all 100% factual, then I can understand why they did it.

The marines family came out in support(even the marine locked up was happy she was released but of course displeased he hasn't been). For what it's worth.

Anyway I would rather respect the admins no politics heading here.
