Ok, why do we build homes near the waters edge with hurricane possibilities? And then we build on the sea shore knowing that beach erosion happens NATURALLY, uh yes it does. Go build a sand castle and see what happens if too close to the water. That is why I get tired of the global warming nerds who talked about the building that collapsed on Daytona Beach during that recent hurricane. That coast gets pounded every single day and natural erosion happens….The hurricanes that are in the Atlantic cause waves to crash ashore constantly for 8-10 hours and this is even the storm is 100 miles off shore. If you build something in 1965 near the shore say 100 yards and you have 55 years of hurricanes every summer buzzing the coast or even far out the water still finds the shore and erodes the beaches. It Wheather man John will say that poor building was protected by 100 yards of sand in 1965 but in 2022 it is now 35 yards. So those storms and the natural rides don’t have an effect? Give me a break.

One of the best examples, the outer Cape in Cape Cod Ma. Not only hurricanes but nor'easters take huge chunks of the dunes/bluff every year. Houses are routinely swallowed by the sea. One house we almost purchased in the early 90's late 80's is now gone! We dodged a bullet. Many aren't as lucky.

As sea levels rise and global warming continues, the outer Cape will be devastated. However the lower Cape near Chatham is the beneficiary. The sand that is scoured from the outer Cape winds up extending the shore line in the lower Cape. New islands form over time.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

To keep it on topic: Since 1885, top college players have shown their mettle every summer in the 10-team Cape Cod League — and in Chatham, local fans cheer on the Anglers. Some very good ball is played, inexpensive and tons of fun.

1. Tornado alley?
2. Area that's actually below sea level(new Orleans for example)?
3. The coast(especially in areas that are prone to hurricanes like Florida?

I’ve already told you why I said it is different. Read it again.

Hurricanes are more predictable than volcanoes? Even so Nick the impact is equally devastating isn't it? Preparedness is of little value in either situ, chances are you are facing serious damage if not total loss. In some ways hurricanes are more dangerous, you can choose not to build or live near a lava field, not so with hurricanes. They will find you.

You are aware they have discovered a bunch of dormant viruses in the thawing tundra of Russia? Viruses that are like 45000 years old? That have been dormant because they were frozen but now that the planet is heating up, are coming to life? It's highly unlikely they have any catastrophic affects on humans or animals but global warming is everywhere.
Yes, I agree. The planet goes in cycles. But we as a species have sped the process.

Let's use you sleeping on the couch as an example. Sometimes it just happens and in time you may spend more and more time there as you grow older.
But, every time you do or say something foolish, your wife sends you there, expediting the process of a permanent relocation

Sorry guys, but I'm with Nick on this in that there is a big difference between living in a home in Florida in a hurricane zone and living in a home in the path of an "active" volcano. The image of my family friends and neighbors running for their lives while lava unexpectedly engulfs them is much more horrifying to me, then a hurricane off the coast that might turn inland and you would have to evacuatie.

But people that choose to live in areas with high risk of annual hurricanes, tornadoes which happen regularly, or in cities that are under sea level, are not. That's the argument.

People choose to live places and take the risk, which is their right. Doesn't make them idiots.

I'm just going to use nicks logic. I guess anyone who lives in areas that are in a hurricanes path to be major, or where there is regular mass destruction, are idiots. These areas seem dangerous, we need to stay away.
