2016/2017 Regular Season and Playoff Thread

Yes, regular season and play offs thread. We'll be making the play offs this season, so stick around Magic fans. They might start out slow, but they'll finish strong.

Magic vs Heat tonight. Biyombo suspended for a flagrant or something in the play offs. Let's see what this team can do.

Yea I am really excited to see what

    What our defense looks like.

    How AG handles the SF.

Is Ibaka really as good as he showed in the preseason.

Is Mario going to show his potential.

    Is EP's jumper improved.

I think I covered everything. I'm not pleased I don't get to see Biz because of suspension. I think he will be a fan favorite

Think this team could lead the league in offensive rebounding tbh.

I don't think Miami is going to be any good this year so I'm hesitant to take much away from this game, especially defensively...but the defensive effort looks pretty good. Lots of movement and energy.

Ibaka wasn't playing well defensively. That's a little disappointing. Sucks we dont have Biyombo tonight.

Payton is 8/8 from the FT line at the first half. He'll prove the doubters wrong this season. I love his aggressiveness tonight. Good defensively as well, holding Dragic to 6 pts.

4 assists for Gordon in the first half is nice

Vucevic is holding his own vs whiteside

    Observations

We lost to a less talented team. All they have is Whiteside and Dragic. Whiteside didn't play that well and Dragic was in foul trouble. It's the first game so maybe our chemistry was off but I expected a better effort.

Our interior defense was horrendous. Hopefully Biz can fix that but just emphasizes why you can't win with Vuc being your starter

AG hit some threes but still looks uncomfortable when try to create off the dribble.

EP was aggressive the first half but when the game slowed down he turned the ball over and was a non factor. 4-12 from the floor. 0-2 from. Same old EP.

Fournier was a little off but still scored. I think he needs to play like he's the number 1 option because on this team he could be.

Mario played with zero confidence and couldn't hit a shot. He just looks weak I don't think he gained any muscle in the offseason and is avoiding contact.

Vuc was the same old Vuc. Double/double with soft defense.

Serge did okay but he looked winded.

First game of the year but I wasn't impressed. I will be patient. Let's see what we look like with Biz and more time playing together

Yeah this is a game where Bismack would've been huge. Just one game, but it was embarrassing.

Terrible game all around. The most alarming thing was our defense was atrocious. I have a lot of things to say about individual play but I will wait and see what happens. Just game two with a lot a new players. Let's just hope it's bad chemistry and the longer we play together the better we will be.

Terrible last night. Let's see how much embarrassment they'll take before someone snaps. Ibaka has been straight up garbage.

Another embarrassing loss, but at least they didn't bend down and take it. I expected a slow start this season, but damn... I'm also not very happy with Vogel's line ups, but I guess its a learning process for everyone right now. This team is nowhere near where it should be. They'll be playing the sixers next. I'm kind of hoping they lose and feel like they hit rock bottom.

For all the oladipo fans out there. The okc thunder just gave him 84 million over 4 years. I pass. Give me Fournier for less money and more production

Yeah id probably prefer Fournier too. Oladipo still has some untapped potential, but so does Fournier.

These past three games have been terrible. The team is clearly lost out there and Vogel isn't helping much. He's letting them play through their struggles. They need to figure out the defense quick. The offense is a lot of bad positioning, bad communication, bad screens, a lot of one on one. Why is biyombo getting so many touches? Why is Gordon shooting more 3s than Ibaka? Ibaka has to shoot like 3 3s per game. Vucevic needs to start shooting them as well. Fournier isn't playing well. He needs to perform better against good perimeter defenders.

I do agree Biz is playing far too many touches in the high post. As far as Gordon taking more 3s than Ibaka I think that's just Gordon playing more on the perimeter and Ibaka playing more down low. Something they both wanted to do. Let's see if we run more and get some easy points in transition

I'd rather have Ibaka providing spacing than Gordon. Ibaka is one of our best shooters, he needs to do what he does best. Gordon needs to cut hard to the rim and bully SFs. What's crazy is we're running plays for Fournier with Ibaka and Vucevic in the paint. How do you expect that to work when it leaves Payton and Gordon stretching the floor. You have to use your best shooters. Frank is not.
