    What Science Can't Do

    What Science Cannot Do

    1. it can't give you comfort.
    2. It can't give you hope
    3. It can't give you morals
    4. It can't give you love.
    5. It can't give you peace
    6. It can't give you kindness
    7. It can't give you peace
    8. It can't give you gentleness
    9. It can't give you patience.
    10. It can't give you self-control
    11. It can't give you faithfulness

Nor does it seek to give you any of these things. All science does is seek to give you more questions.

So let's stop acting as if these two completely different things have ANYTHING to do with one another.

    It's not science versus religion.

    It's science and religion.

    Come on, man.
Use a just a bit of logic - something you also don't need religion for.

Is it your honest position that none of the hundreds of millions of atheists on this planet exhibit any of the above traits?

If not then what did you mean by responding "keep telling yourself that" to my comment that religion wasn't needed for comfort, hope, etc...?

Where on Earth, in the absence of religion, do any of the things he listed actually exist?
I'm not crazy, just a bit deranged is all.

    Umm...everywhere.

The extremely obvious example is that medicine, an applied science, gives lots of people hope.

Actually, I answered the wrong question above.

I answered the question of where science could provide one of the things that 20thK ignorantly says it cannot.

But the question was where do these things exist outside of religion.

Fortunately, the answer is the same - everywhere. To suggest that atheists can't feel, for example, love is absurd.

Can your scientists provide me with eternal life?

The OP's original comment is so extremely silly. I don't need to believe in a single particular God of any of the thousands of belief systems out there to find comfort, peace, morals, love....etc. It's a malformed question right off of the bat. A pointless one at that.

However science does provide us with ecosystems, medicine, progress and even the very cell phone/computer you are using right now to have this conversation. However I always find it humorous when creationists use science to diss science. It's Irony at it's finest. Yet I have never seen a scientist pick up the bible to help them out with nuclear physics.

What point do you think you're making?
Because the only point that you've made is that you are unable to follow along in a discussion or contribute to that discussion in any meaningful way.

    But

Even if it were true, it's not, that, first, a god or gods exist, and, second, they can provide eternal life, that still wouldn't make the OP's claim that science cannot give hope, comfort, etc correct. Nor would it invalidate the fact that hope, comfort, etc can exist outside of religion.

Silly would be about the nicest adjective that one could use.
