Actually Pop has liked Porzingis ..... Not sure Knicks would want that but....

Celts are supposedly offering up Brown as a piece.....

Clipp's have 2 1st round picks.... with Harris?

Don't suppose they would like Wigs and our 1st.... not likely ..... but I think Pop and Tib's are friends....

    Teague
    Butler
    Leonard
    Gibson
    Towns

That may get us in the ballpark to face GS....

A healthy Leonard and we would be an instant contender that would attract some quality discount vets. Going from Wiggins to Leonard is about as much of an upgrade as you will see in the league.

Subtract a below average player that is making 25 mil per for the next 5 or 6 years (Wiggs) while also adding a top 5 player that is coming into his prime (Leonard)! Can dreams come true?

OK I got it, we get K. Leonard and P. Mills for Towns and Wiggins. Then trade Teague and pick 20 for R. Anderson and Zhou Qi. (If they lose out on C. Paul)

    P. Mills, Jones
    Leonard, Rose
    Butler, Qi
    Gibson, Anderson
    Dieng, Patton

I wouldn't give kat up in any deal.. That deal does not make us anywhere near contending.... It would have to be Leonard for Wiggy, Patton and 2 1st rounders.

For the most part I agree.

We need to realize that while Kawhi/Butler is a great duo GS already has a better one with two other all stars as well who fit great next to them. If we want to make all in moves we need to at least be able to compete with teams already out there/formed. This has been the biggest thing Thibs missed when he made the initial trade IMO is he didn't really take any sort of look at where the league was at and what it would truly take to compete for a title in todays NBA.

Short term moves at the expense of our young core is exactly what got us here with so many issues. This is part of the reason I still think Thibs is far and away the teams biggest issue because he totally could just make another all in move like trading Towns just to try and win a few more this year if he sees his job on the line. I just have 0 faith in his abilities as a GM anymore and what we have seen as a coach has been pretty pitiful imo too (even players seem to have issues and this is after bringing in his own guys).

I like the idea of going for Kawhi but adding in Towns is a no from me. We might not have enough to make it happen without him but having all of our cap locked into Teague/Butler/Kawhi/Dieng for the future just isn't gonna be enough imo and then we would be extremely limited in options to improve.

NO WAY are we moving Towns in something like that .

Will be interesting with Wiggins as Butler called him out for his work ethic or lack there of. We may have a different roster by Friday.... If Wiggins was to move I would expect Thursday or Thursday night. I still think he has ton's of tools and would be a mistake to just give him away and Butlers comments just devalued him so ....

Will be an interesting off season.

On the Leanord front Pop supposedly said he will not trade him to a western division team.... I think he will have a new address by Friday also.... but not likely in the northland!

Been out of the loop on this site for a while, so I don't know if its been brought up yet, but I'll throw it out there anyway.

There's smoke about a Towns to Phoenix deal, which would bring the Wolves the #1 pick (Deandre Ayton). The initial gut wrench is to say no way, but the ancillary pieces being talked about that the Wolves would receive back are Josh Jackson, Dragan Bender, and another pick...that's a load. I love Ayton as a prospect...hard to simply say he will be Towns equal in a year or two, but he very well may be...People are very down on Jackson and Dragan, but ****, Dragan is a legit 7' footer who can shoot a three, and Jackson, while not having any shooting stroke, still has some potential...throw in a pick, and I say, fair trade.

Of course, these media people throwing smoke on this, likely don't know Thibs like we do. He isnt going to trade Towns to bring in three prospects and a pick...if a Towns deal happens, they are bringing in established, over the hill veterans.

The rumors/smoke are weeks old, but this just popped up, that got me thinking of it again...

    Critical thinking question...

If the Wolves are to trade one of KAT or Wiggins, like Jalen suggests will happen in the post above, who would you rather trade?

Seems like a simple answer, til you realize how much of a haul Towns would get you, compared to the pennies Wiggins will get you (might even have to throw in additional assets to get someone to take the contract).

I think the answer is still pretty clearly trade Wiggins or keep both. I just don't get what trading Towns accomplishes right now unless it is a completely insane trade. We are too far away for one star player and another role player or young player to get us on GS level replacing him. Why go young when we just went all in with our other assets, start a rebuild again? Butler has a handful of years left to compete so if you go with Rookies I think you basically are moving on from him too (he would leave in offseason possibly). Trade Wiggins keep Towns is always the answer from me, again unless it is insane (even the PHX one above doesn't do it for me).

Unfortunately, any trade of Wiggins would probably be about the opportunity to get out from under his 5-year albatross of a contract and not about value that we get in return. Wiggins for Parsons and #4 is probably a pipedream at best but I would do it immediately if it's actually on the table. KAT for #1, Jackson, #16 and either Criss or Bender might be too much to say no to but man I would hate to trade the guy.

I'm on a boring conference call so why not use the time to post a stupid trade scenario that will never happen:

MIN in: Josh Jackson, Pick #1 Pick #16
    PHO in: Karl Anthony Towns

MIN in: Chandler Parson & Pick #4
MEM in: Andrew Wiggins & 2020 FRP (Lottery Protected)

    MIN in: Pick #38 & Pick #39
    PHI in: Pick #20

    1. C DeAndre Ayton
    4. C/F Jaren Jackson Jr.
    16. G Donte DiVincenzo
    38. G Shake Milton
    39. F Keita Bates-Diop
    48. SG Malik Newman

    C DeAndre Ayton/Gorgui Dieng/Justin Patton
    PF Jaren Jackson/Taj Gibson
    SF Josh Jackson/Keita Bates-Diop/Chandler Parsons
    SG Jimmy Butler/Donte DiVincenzo/Malik Newman
    PG Jeff Teague/Tyus Jones/Shake Milton

    Timberwolves Trade/Ideas/Rumors Thread 2.0

I mean we need to trade butler and Teague too then and just tank next year (grab another high pick). Maybe we can get close to being the best young team in the league again in 3 years or so!

Just feels like these types of moves are to try and get us right back to where we were pre thibs lol

    Ditto

    PSD Grammar Lesson #1:

    a) their - stands for "belonging to them"
    b) there - means "over there" as in location
    c) they're - short for "they are"

    Still Wiggins for me.

In my opinion, the bigger question is who stays out of Butler & Wiggins.

In this modern NBA, you need a shooter in your starting five, or you're not winning a playoff series.

Also, if we trade KAT (using your example), we're starting another re-build. Butler leaves if KAT gets traded, and we're left with Ayton and Wiggins/Jackson. And Wiggins/Jackson would be even more troublesome than Wiggins/Butler.
