Not sure why so many are torn on Haliburton, I think he has a minimal ceiling, but his floor is for sure a good NBA role player.

I am not sure what people see in Culver either. He is light years from being an NBA player to be honest. Trade him.

I mean, I would love that. Miller was a rock solid PG over the years. Funny enough, I read Terrell Brandon somewhere. Look, Haliburton as a starter, maybe not. But as a rock solid backup, with the ability to start for long periods if need be, that is exactly what you like out of a backup PG..

Good shout out to Brandon. Look it depends on the situation. You can play him at 1 next to D'lo, or at SF in the role you wanted Culver to play.
But despite that and the fact I have the gut feeling, I still believe we should go after Okongwu or Okoro with the first pick, Bey or Vassell or P. Williams with the second and someone like Reed with the third.

I am sorry, and correct me if I am wrong, but I do not want anything to do with an athletic big who has questionable bball IQ and little to no grasp of the basics. I do not want Wiggins 2.0 and by God I had the original PG with court vision, who also had amazing bball IQ on both ends of the court even if he wasn't as good in scoring AND had a better head on his shoulders. And if I see another one of the so called sports writers compare Ball to Rubio, I will have them banned from writing ever again cause they either have not seen Rubio play or they have no clue about basketball and they are talking out of their....
As far as Tobin goes while he projects to compliment the team fine in offense, his lack of D for me takes him out of the race.

well, your Kenneth Faried types have shelf lives, and any harm to their burst/speed, and they are done. Either of the 2 you listed, I am fine with. But we clearly need a pairing with Towns that is more concentrated on defense. Whether we find that in the draft, or FA, I don't care. And we need PG depth badly.

Yes I agree Hawk, we should find the pairing next to Towns. But unfortunately we (or at least I) don't know what Rosas/Saunders want that to be.
What is the true meaning behind "a PG, 3 wings and a big"? The true interpretation. I took a look at Town's shooting splits. He takes almost half of his efforts from the 3p line or from the top of the key. And if you counter in how many times he pick and rolls, Towns operates as a wing most of the time.
So offensively do you want someone to set screens, be a presence in the paint, draw defenders out for the cutters to operate, have a decent shot for the pick and pop and be a decent passer to create more opportunities? Cause that is a tough package to find.
And defensively that you mentioned, do you want someone who won't get pushed back by stronger bigs (mind you Okongwu also has a problem with that) or a help defender?
I honestly believe that the best option is already in the team in JJ. I mean sure Milsap is a good option but is he as good as he was?
So I would prefer to keep JJ and offer him guard dogs next to him (Okongwu, Okoro, Precious, Bey, Vassell, Okogie, Culver)
As for the PG there is always the option of Jones. We had his brother and I think he is of a similar mold.

I am not sure Vassell or Reed fall that far but I am completely down with this plan. I think Okongwu is probably the best fit of the higher rated specs and it is really tough to sort them out much. I think this draft seems to have a nice chunk of role players who would fit nicely next to Towns/Russell even if the top end talent doesn't seem to be there.

I think Towns is actually fine with guarding the bigger guys (especially if we have better help defense), where we lack is help and deterring people from the paint/often leaving open lanes with missed assignements (general roster turnover might help this some already though, bye Wiggins). Okongwu would be able to switch around giving our defense more flexibility and fills the help defense aspect we often lack.

Offensively if Okongwu could just hit 3's he is actually solid for what we want all around I think, he can score in multiple ways and is efficient but doesn't need the ball at same time. He shot 72% from FT so it isn't like he is horrendous shooting big either just not a stretch type. Russell/Beasley/Towns help with this obviously and if we get a wing like Bey/Vassell too well then one big man not being a floor spacer won't be an issue imo and you can run an offense around screen actions and getting this type easy buckets at the hoop off ball action. If his defense is as good/impactful as advertised he will make his money on that end while being an efficient 4th option type/finisher/screener on O.

Yes! Don't get me wrong with all this draft talk. Isaac is an ideal target. But as Hawk said I doubt they let him go unless they know he will always be injury prone.

So the draft mocks are all over the place. Mind you I have been going crazy with the things I have read and watched (and I am not talking about "Tim the neighborhood gm" type" channels).
To give an example. Ball to Washington, Wiseman to NY. Even when they say Tobbin to us. Who will play D? no one? Because they want to see our offense? And then accuse us when we fail and call us losers? Nice logic...

Back to us. Whenever Vassell or Bey goes up, R. Williams falls to our range. Whenever Reed gets up Precious falls. So yeah there are options. And something very important that people seem to neglect when they talk about us. We are not looking for a star. We have our stars. We even have our third option. What we are looking for is for pieces that would compliment and hide our stars' weaknesses.

I hope kneeling or not makes no difference in who we go after lol.

I think the acl is a bit concerning and at very least only pursue if price is lower.
