Not these. These are part of PSD. At least on my psd screen there are all those pictures. I do not mix sports chat room and masturbation sites. It's too confusing. My psyche couldn't deal with the inevitable transference from one to the other. Which would cause me to become visibly aroused by a touchdown but then when my GF was feeling randy, i would tackle her and scream at her for dropping the ball.
PSD doesn't run it's own ad service though, no? The mods here even reference Google Adsense. Try clearing your cookies and changing your IP address and see if they change. Or just run an adblocker.
    First 4 years:
    Brown - 54 GP, 27 GS, 261 catches (63.3%) for 3,561 yds (8.6 AVG), 15 TD
    Landry - 64 GP, 57 GS, 400 catches (70.2%) for 4,038 yds (10.1 AVG), 22 TD

Huh. Wonder why Landry is getting paid so much...

I think the more-rules-enforcement vs. less-rules-enforcement argument is a tough one. Pardon my usual long-windedness.

Being a super mod sucked. It wasn't about ensuring that good posters could thrive and bad ones would be weeded out. It was about enforcing nit-picky rules and dealing with people who were upset with other people on the internet. Bleh. It was managing people feelings, largely because there were so many rules...and the whiny people would site them, and just because Chronz was a great poster he'd have to be infracted because he called an idiot an "idiot".

Maybe it disillusioned me, but PSD isn't some beacon of intelligence. Why pretend it is anymore? It's a place to shoot the **** and talk sports. You know a poster who needs to be banned forever when you see it. Everyone else I think mostly should be let free. If they cause continual problems then maybe intervene, but a lot of these "problems" that have to be dealt with are artificial problems created by an archaic and overly-restrictive set of rules. They aren't real problems.

Why do the rules have to be so strict? Is it to project an image of a proper and intelligent community? Or what. Because everywhere else I go on the internet it's wild...and that's fine.

If I were in charge I'd honestly just scrub the rules, sans the necessary ones (porn, selling stuff, copyright, racism, doxxing and a few others) and just let the admins use their judgement. If a new poster comes around and is just a terror, boot 'em. If a poster who's been here for 10 years calls someone an "idiot", who cares? No one like that should be getting banned, ever. Seriously.

I know one of the admins just said he wants more people to report posts...but I haven't found myself reporting posts in years. I just don't care. If you want to call me an idiot because we disagree about hot sauces, whatever. And, conversely, if you're whining all the time about "abusing smilies" (a real rule) or foul language, well, this is the internet. Grow up.

    Let 'em be!

90% of my posts lately have been in the politics forum and ALL bickering and arguing back-and-forth between two clearly delineated groups of people. I love it. It's tense. Sometimes people get carried away. But that's what we're here for. I'd be IRRATE if SpecialFNK, a user I clearly agree with almost nothing on ever and honestly don't think much of, got banned because he told me I was stupid. Or post-padded. Or "baited" me. Or anything. Not only can PSD not afford to be so pointlessly strict, but it is, after all, pointless to be that strict.

It's certainly not only the Dodger forum.

If you want, as Jeffy mentioned, active discussion then there needs to be an atmosphere that fosters that.

There are rules, the ones I quoted, which attempt to do that, but they aren't enforced.

You want to know how to improve activity on the site.
I quoted two posters who are telling you why they DON'T want to be active on the site.

Might be some value value listening to them

Here's a good example of the type of thing that keeps new users from posting here:

No idea what is going on, certainly off topic. Ban both people.

Ah. I dunno if I've ever been to the PSD main page. I googled "sports forums" years ago and came here. I give no craps about whatever the rest of the site here does. Everything I've seen contentwise from it over the years has been exceptionally poor.

Quite a few good points. Appreciate the perspective from a former mod. I sure don't frequent anywhere else online that has such draconian rules. Generally seems as though reporting posts just leads to a decline in conversation (good or bad).

I just think a lot of people don't sit at a computer much anymore. If they do, it's social media and not sports forums. Maybe contests and making this more a 'gaming' forum would boost interest. Contests all of that.

The Redrafts use to be the best thing about these sites. Interest has been lost but I could see more interest being gained if awards were given to those winners.
Good point. The redrafts used to be awesome back in the day.
Id say one of the main reasons people lost interest is because we ran too many of them. It would be cool to be involved with one again.

I'd say the issue is most users aren't laid back like you in regards to post content. Some people are turned off by insult banter, and PSD has to cater to that level so everyone can "get along". If someone calls someone else an idiot, it's gonna incite that other user to come back stronger, and next thing you know it's just a festival of beration (may or may not be a word, but you know what I mean).

It does get annoying when people are in disagreement, and instead of agreeing to disagree they just devolve into trying to out insult each other. It can be funny for awhile, I'll admit that lol, but some guys don't know when to stop, so PSD has to cut everyone off at the earliest onset just to make sure that doesn't happen

I'm all for a more lax environment, I just don't know if the majority can handle it
