Over 2200 dead in Turkey and Syria. I've been in a number of earthquakes, but I cannot imagine back-to-back 7+ magnitude quakes like that.

John Fetterman has been hospitalized after feeling lightheaded, but it doesn't look like there's any new evidence of a stroke.

The 76ers will lose the Finals. Anything to piss off More-Than-Most.![]()

RIP Trugoy of De La Soul. Was lucky enough to see them and Tribe before Phife Dawg passed away. I remember two of the first CDs I ever owned were 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul is Dead.

3 Feet High and Rising was def some of the earliest hip-hop I got in to back in the day and brings me back to when I was a teenager. Sucks that their label, Tommy Boy, has made it so basically none of their catalog has been available to stream; especially for the younger generations that almost exclusively depends on streaming for music consumption.
Def no shortage of De La in my music collection:

I read De La Soul's catalog is coming to Apple Music on March 3rd. Shame because they were supposed to be touring England and then coming back to the states later in the year. That's why I'm glad I still use my Ipod touch even though I have Spotify on my phone because there is so much stuff you can't stream.
De La and Tribe got me into so much music from that era whether it was Brand Nubian, Leaders of the New School, Black Sheep, the Jungle Brothers, Chi- Ali, the Beatnuts, Fu-Schnickens, Digable Planets, Dilated Peoples, and later on Mos Def, Common, etc.

Yeah, their stuff was supposed to all flood on to streaming services on 3/3/23. I hadn't heard about a tour but had assumed that would be coming as well.
I don't use any streaming services to any significant degree and the whole Tommy Boy thing is one of many reasons why I don't. I still exclusively use digital files to listen to music at my house, in the car, and wearing headphones on the go. Doesn't eat up my data plan and my music selections aren't affected by record labels or artists deciding to pull music from certain streaming services. It also gives me the ability to seamlessly listen to rare, unreleased, and unauthorized stuff that was never actually for sale or went out of print years ago.
The first hip-hop I got in to was pretty much just Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, and some Geto Boys before branching out to more conscious stuff (De La Soul, Digable Planets, Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, The Roots, etc.) and more underground stuff (Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, Freestyle Fellowship, Pharcyde, etc.). Prior to this, I didn't even respect hip-hop as an art form and was a very narrow-minded fan of only metal, hard rock, grunge, and alternative.
Guess I kinda forgot about stuff like MC Hammer and Kris Kross that I don't listen to anymore (unlike all the other acts I mentioned).
Kris Kross is so 1992.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you can't grasp the difference between lame music someone listened to as a kid and lame music that someone listens to and vociferously defends as an adult.
Thanks for reminding me how hurt you continue to be about people daring to besmirch the good name of Nickelback though, chief.![]()
