With Richards out for the next 12-18 months. Heaney likely out around 9-12 months. The Angels need to start preparing to contend for April of 2018.

    Our current roster

    SP Hector Santiago
    SP Nick Tropeano
    SP Jered Weaver
    SP Cory Rasmus
    SP

    DL Tyler Skaggs (June~ 2016)
    DL C.J. Wilson (June~ 2016)
    DL Andrew Heaney (April~ 2017)
    DL Garrett Richards (July~ 2017)

    CL Joe Smith
    SU Mike Morin
    SU Fernando Salas
    MR Cam Bedrosian
    MR Greg Mahle
    MR AJ Achter
MR Javy Guerra (Called up today)
    LR Jose Alvarez

DL Huston Street (Late May 2016)

    C Geovany Soto/Carlos Perez
    1B/DH Albert Pujols/C.J. Cron/Ji Man Choi
    2B Johnny Giavotella/Cliff Pennington
    3B Yunel Escobar
    SS Andrelton Simmons
    LF Rafael Ortega/Shane Robinson
    CF Mike Trout
    RF Kole Calhoun

DL Daniel Nava (Likely being activated today)

We're able to use a 4 man rotation until May 14th-15th because of off days. After that we will definitely make a move. I doubt we leave Rasmus in the rotation. What I would do send Rasmus back to the pen. Send Achter and Guerra down. Call up Shoemaker and Nate Smith.

    Simmons goes to the DL.

Just tank for the best possible pick this year. This team is toast.

Their pitching is almost as bad as their hitting. All around bad season incoming.

I think Hector Santiago can get a good return in trade, he has two years left, and the pitching market is really thin.

With all the money coming off the books it sucks that Arte wont spend, some of the cuban players will instantly fill this teams needs.
Yadiel Hernandez is older, at like 28 but could instantly come in and play LF. Luis Yander La O is a speedy infielder who can play 2nd or 3rd is only 24 and ready for AAA right now.
Jose Miguel Fernandez is 27 and either a 2nd base or 3rd basemen, super high plate discipline, he's ready for AAA and then the majors after he gets some at bats. He could be the starting 2b next season.

Id trade Santiago, Shoe and Cron. Get the absolute best you can and then use the money next year on some quality fillers.

You guys couldn't get Fernandez without including Seager and you believe you can get not only Trout, but Street as well without including him?

You don't trade a player like Trout that has 4 years of club control following this year. Trout can become a free agent after the 2020 season. If the Angels have a terrible roster/farm system in the middle of the 2019 season then you can potentially think about trading Trout, but that is only if you have first tried your hardest to extend him and know that there is absolutely no chance.

But just for the sake of guessing what it would take. The Angels would have to get their choice of 5 players from the Dodgers organization (excluding Kershaw). Starting with Seager, Urias, and Pederson

We'll be flush with cash next year. We lose $20M each with Weaver and CJ Weaver both expiring. That's $40 off the rolls. We should use some of that to resign Lincecum if he continues to pitch well.

We should trade Joe Smith. He's approaching Age 40 and he's in the last year of his contract. Get a young prospect with a high ceiling for him.

Oh and Josh Hamilton comes off the year after at $25M. We'll be saddled with Pujols massive contract well past the years he can run to first.
