Kobe and D'Angelo have something in common

When Kobe Bryant faced rape allegations in 2003, he told on Shaq for paying women up to $1 million to keep them quiet in similar situations, according to an NBC Sports article.
Kobe mentioning Shaq to police was his way of trying to beat the charge (which he eventually did), to contextualize himself as within the norm. Shaq’s personal life was just collateral damage.

I guess its just one of those things that never gets less "unbelievable". Seems strange and oxymoronish that "one of the top 5 competitors in NBA history" is also one of the top five punks in NBA history as well. Every time I hear of this account I still have to laugh and shake my head.

When Kobe was talking to police, did he know that what he was saying would be leaked to the media?

Some people just love to start threads. And most of them should be barred from doing so.

Hopefully at the end of D'Angelo's career they have something else in common too..

No, which is just another similarity between the situations. Russel didn't know that the video would somehow get leaked. Now the main difference is Kobe didn't entirely create the situation forced the conversation himself. BUT, him saying what Shaq did was totally unnecessary and unrelated so to a certain extent he did.

Did I indicate it was breaking or new? (Hint: No; I did not.)

It's unbelievable that the Lakers' organization took no disciplinary steps in addressing Russell's actions. At the very least, he should've been benched informally for a few games (dnp), but a formal, multiple game suspension would've been warranted. At the very least, the team should have suspended him for a single game.

Instead, they express "disappointment" and allow the kid to play.

These inbred hillbilly buss kids are completely clueless. I thought the Lakers' organization was sunk even before this latest fiasco--now I wonder if they can ever recover. I'm not even sure if this team can contend again.

It's not unlikely that they become a perennial tank, a la the wolves and sixers.
