Round 1: Vikings select OT Chrisian Darrisaw with the No. 23 overall pick

    christian darrisaw
    t, minnesota vikings

vikings selected virginia tech t chrisian darrisaw with the no. 23 overall pick in the 2021 nfl draft.

Darrisaw (ht/wt) became a three-year starter at left tackle for virginia tech after going mostly ignored out of high school.

Recruited primarily by fcs schools, darrisaw ended up taking the only fbs offer he had, spending a year in prep school prior to enrolling in blacksburg. He was a revelation of a recruiting find for the hokies, capping off his three-year career by posting the second-best pff grade for a power ot ever (behind penei sewell’s 2019), finishing no. 2 in the nation in both run-block and pass-pro grades. Darrisaw is a sub-sea-level-firing, low-man-wins hammer in the run game, as a seek-and-destroy terror on pulls and in the second level. A sound, patient technician in pass-pro with electricity in his hands, darrisaw allowed zero sacks, zero hits and only a mere six hurries in 2020. He'll be a much-welcomed addition to a minnesota offensive line that pro football focus graded as the league's fourth worst pass blocking unit in 2020.

Ben Leber called Darrisaw “the most powerful OL in the draft. People mover.”

He played with a nasty streak most of the time. I love the pick. If he can play with a nasty streak all of the time then look out.
