GM Revision: Select a player from each draft - 2010

    Okay.

I am doing something similar in the MLB section, but I am going to provide a different twist here.

The set up is as follows, you are a GM, and you know the past history of every player up to today. But you get to go back in time, and pretend you have the 16th pick in every draft, and you need to assemble the best roster that you possibly can.

Anyone that was in the first 15 picks does not count. You have to choose the best player that will fill your roster correctly and try to build the most competitive team possible. Remember, players must be able to play the position that you assign them to and must have played multiple minutes in multiple appearances at that position in the NBA to qualify for that position.

    Here is how it works:

We are starting in 2003. The first fifteen players are already off the board, and you have the 16th pick, in real life Boston took Troy Bell. But you get to have the privelege of hindsight and get to select whoever you think will help you build the best possible roster.

When you finish, and get to the 2014 NBA draft, we will see who we believe would have the most competitive roster assembled. Note, you can take someone that was an undrafted free agent as well, like a Jeremy Lin, but you need to take him in the year that he would have been drafted, for Lin that would be 2010. I will post up to 29 possible selections, and you can select an Other, but please tell us who you would have taken.

Each poll will last 3 days, and then we will go on to the next year.

This might have been the toughest selection yet. From a talent standpoint, I do think Bledsoe is the better player, but for this game, there are just too many talented 1 and 2 guards on my squad and I know there are others left. How many centers are going to be left to build out our rosters that have double-double potential, are freakishly efficient offensively and can play solid defense? Bledsoe is the better player, but I think Whiteside has more value in this game.

There's still so many question marks with Whiteside though, there's still a lot of none believers. Where as Bledsoe has proven himself to be a somewhat consistently good player over a couple of seasons, both as a back up and as a starter. Plus there's another (and IMO superior) big man who would more than suffice as a back up, I'll wait for him Although I'm content with my Gasol/Gortat rotation tbh.

    My pick is Bledsoe.

It's interesting to see your roster, because I think I'd have nearly an identical roster had I picked Millsap instead of Lowry. That, to me, has been the biggest decision in this entire game, because it completely alters the makeup of your team throughout. But I don't think I'd have Gortat. Also, I think I know what center you're referring to, but I have another player in mind from that draft.

Because you don't rate him or because you think there's a better player/fit from 2005?

I think you're right about the Lowry/Millsap decision, there's so much depth at the PG though and I'm a big fan of Millsap and his versatility.
