^Look at that draft. Re-pick the top-30 and place players where they would go knowing what we know now. Lots of hits and lots of misses in that 1st round so there will be a few risers and guys that fall i assume.

I should have been clear that i meant take the top-30 players from the whole draft. I thought the thread tags would have been enough. I guess i'm the only guy that reads those things?

Maybe you're right, just two damn slow. But yea drafted 5th overall in a draft that had two elite RHD, two #1 RHD, and a few more with the potential to be a #1 in the right situation and ended up with Schenn.

Yupp, traded 7th Overall (thanks to Gerber and Deveraux), and our 2nd and 3rd round picks that year to move to 5th.

Well, it all worked out in the end as Leafs ended up with JVR which I think fits right up there in the top 5.

By the way, I love Doughty but you can't honestly think he is ahead of Stamkos?!?! LOL

Meh, Doughty has two Cups and two Olympic Gold Medals. Plus the Leafs have never had a great RHD in my lifetime so I guess that pushed him to the front of the list for me in terms of who I would take. Can't go wrong with either of them though, probably the best 1-2 punch in the draft the last 20 years (Ovi-Malkin is close)

Like I said, I am a huge Doughty fan (who isn't)....but if you are drafting 1 player, I don't think you even hesitate - Stamkos 1000 out of 1000 times. 264 goals in 470 NHL games in only 7yrs!! While 1 of those 7yrs was wiped out because of injury and shortened season. You can't pass on a Stamkos for a defenseman, just can't do it.
