The Mariners released their 2016 promotional schedule today and on June 25 vs the Cardinals, they will play a Turn Back the Clock game. 1984 appears to be the destination. A similar game was played July 1, 2011 vs the Padres. Maybe, they'll have a Dave Henderson tribute then too.

Alaska Airlines is dropping their current navy and teal color scheme, maybe this will finally motivate the Mariners to adopt their original royal blue and gold color scheme full-time now!

On this date in 1977, the pullover jersey and sansabelt pant clad Seattle Mariners, played their first game ever, at the Kingdome, losing to the Angels 7-0. Ironically, they looked more modern and contemporary then, than they do now.

Saturday night, the Mariners and Cardinals travel back in time to 1984. Mariners will wear the 2016 version of their 1981-86 home uniforms while hosting the Cardinals, who will be decked in their 1984 road powder blues. Grow the game. Make Baseball Fun Again. Bring Back The Trident.

I guess the game Saturday June 25, 2016 vs St. Louis was the closest we will get to seeing the Mariners play in the World Series. They wore the 2016 version of the franchise's best uniform, the 1981-86 set. Bring back the trident. It's all we ask for.

On June 24, 2017 at Safeco Field (Kingdome) the Seattle Mariners hosted the Houston Astros in a Turn Back the Clock game. The teams wore the 2017 version of their 1977 uniforms, rainbow uniforms for the Astros and the inaugural trident uniforms for the Mariners. V-neck pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants with elasticized waistbands. The Mariners and Astros also played in a Turn Back the Clock game against each other in 2014. Let's cut to the chase, just like today's regular games, the game featured terrible high-cuffed pants and baggy full length "pajama pants", no in-between. These games are becoming such a disappointment because they are so anachronistic.
