it's good but could have been better when he was a true top 100 talent, he's really fallen off

Pop has averaged almost 97 mph on his FB this year and is still only 25. There is upside there for sure. He also still has 3 milb options.

Funny note- not only is he from Brampton, but the Jays also drafted him in the 23rd round back in 2014 out of high school.....but he never signed and went to school. He was later part of the deal that brought Machado to the Dodgers.

Just another example of asset mismanagement by Shatkins

I'm surprised we got anything for Groshans. Now we've got like 7 guys with sub-4 ERAs in the bullpen. No guarantee they keep it up, but that's at least not a travesty.

I feel like I'm the low man on Groshans. He's never been a great prospect IMO.

You mean when he was injured?

    Drafted in 2018
    Broken foot in May 2019
    Cancelled season 2020
    Rebuilding value in 2021

I mean, unless he was being dealt before he gets injured in 2019 itís not like he really had a ton of value. He was always a question mark.

For sure, because, like every other team hits on a 100% of their prospects. Another SMH comment from the Atkins hater!

I think heís referring to selling low on another asset.

Iím happy with the trade though. I want more just like it.

Part of the game (just like hitting and fielding) - need to stay on the field.

Just the reality of it, in June he was on BA's top 100; now he's not but still on MLB Pipelines list.

So, you're happy that Shatkins let him fall out of the top 100 and then dealt him for less than they could have gotten last year or last offseason since he clearly was not in the Jays long range plans? For Groshans to get what they gotfor him today was good and I'm happy with the return but Groshans a year ago could have gotten so much more. Just another SMH comment who thinks that our overrated GM can do no wrong.

I was alluding to him not really ever having true top 100 value aside from his draft year I also edited the OP. Coming out of high school and not really being seen as a true SS while having no tools that jump off the page isnít really going to entice teams to deal top talent for him. Especially when he had only hit in A ball.

Tbh Iím not all that surprised. IIRC the majority of us were surprised to even see him in the top 100 last year.

He was always regarded as more of a safe bet to make it to the majors and be a regular player.

Anthony Bass. Second stint with the Blue Jays, first time pitching in Toronto.
